It's Saturday morning here in the UK ,time for you to come on this thread and man up Mendoza.

No primary source provided by you for your two statements.

    Six provided by me .

You started this thread on the 27th of August ,its now the 1st of September.
That's given you 5 days to locate a primary source to back up your claims. I'll give you until tomorrow, to produce one against my 6, if you don't and, if you continually ignore this thread ,which you yourself started,I'l make another , naming you for what you are.

How about it? Ready to admit you were wrong ?

Just do the right thing and make a post stating. I was wrong, I've found no evidence to support my claims I withdraw them.

    McVey was right.

    [As usual ,where you're concerned.]

I won't be on here for a while going to a Hop Festival to drink and listen to various music with friends.

    Never fear I shall return!

ps [Friends are people that you like, and who like you,]oh never mind, I expect it's too novel a concept for you to grasp.

    This is the bottom line.

Whatever sucess Jeffries had, is hardly sufficient to be worth arguing over.

So maybe the source wasn't right. That happens. Ok-- Your still DEAD WRONG when you said Jeffries only won 1 round, the 4th, and his old trainer wasn't in his corner.:lol::lol:

Down 2-1 must burn your sorry self.

    END.

So ,here we are ,you have produced NO PRIMARY SOURCES to back up your claims.
Will you now admit you were wrong?
I have never said what rounds Jeffries won,I merely repeated newspaper reports of the fight.
I repeat, no one alive has seen the fight in it's entirety.
DELANEY BEING IN JOHNSON'S CAMP HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS THREAD.

THIS THREAD IS ABOUT TWO STATEMENTS THAT YOU MADE .

    1.That Jeffries cut Johnson
2.That Jeffries hurt and wobbled Johnson in the 11th round.
You have had 5 days to produce evidence to back up your claims ,and have produced NOTHING.
I ,on the other hand have posted 6 primary sources that contradict your fairy tales.

WILL YOU NOW, HAVE THE GOOD GRACE TO ADMIT YOU WERE WRONG?

I think that I have a good track record in terms of defending Jeffries, but he just shouldn't have got ut of bed that morning.

The referee said Johnson won as he liked ,so did Fitz , Corbett turned to Jeffries brother after the 7th and said ",Jack your brothers getting licked what can we do?"
Only one man persists in propagating fairy tales of the fight.

Mendoza, who has not had the decency and good grace to come on his own thread, and admit he was wrong.

    What a piece of work.

Very much so, thank you good sir. I've considered for a while to make a highlight of Ali's defensive moves, acoustically accompanied by the great Ennio. Might release it when The Greatest passes away.. might not take long. :(

For many years ive read that Johnson won the fight easily, that Jeff did have a good moment or two, particulaly the 4th round..

Jeffries was in serious trouble when he faced Johnson, his sparring with Joe Choinsky proved that Jeff was but a shadow of his former self and reading of Jeffries huge weight loss, his massive smoking habit, the 5+ years lay off..well he did his best, and came up short.

The crime here is that the fight film is not commercially available in it's entirerty and sadly for fans of early boxing, that situation does not look likely to improve.

Jeffries was about 35 years old when he fought johnson. Jeffries last fight had been in 1904. Though 35 years old, jeffries looked older and during his retirement had gained
alot of weight. Though he looked in decent shape, jeffries
    was definitely over the hill.

Another point - johnson was given problems by the rangy build
types. Hank griffin a 6' 1" fighter with quick hands, had beaten johnson and also fought to a draw with him. Gunboat
smith, another tall (6'2") lean fighter had hurt johnson badly in sparring.

Aggressive in-your-face sluggers like jeffries and burns were counterpunched by the quicker johnson.
