He's a sharp, hurtful puncher. He really commits to his one-twos and his left hook can cause damage too.
He's not featherfisted by any means, but he's a HORRIBLE closer. He has no killer instinct whatsoever when he has the other guy hurt. But you don't knock down Pavlik, Lacy and Froch being feather fisted.
Taylor has good power, but he doesnt score stoppages because 1. He has horrible accuracy 2. He's the worst finisher in boxing history. However he still managed to drop Froch, which is why I think Carl the clumsy is getting stopped tomorrow night. Kessler is very accurate, and if he gets Froch in trouble the way Taylor did, Froch will be ****ed cause Kessler doesnt miss too much when he gets his range. Froch is gonna get ****ed up ppl.
There's plenty of criticisms which could be levelled at Taylor, but feather-fistedness isn't one of them.
Skill was always Taylor's problem. All he really ever had was a jab, and good athletism. His overall skills have ALWAYS been lacking.
Definately NOT feather fisted, but really has struggled to finish guys, even guys much smaller who will stand right in front of him(Ouma). He hasn't (T)KO'd anybody since Daniel Eduoard in February 2005, he packs a punch, not much of a threat to finish you. Could be because he throws flurries early and just burns himself out so if you survive the early onslaught(Pavlik, Froch) you'll be fine because his punches lose steam.
I was surprised too when I read it, and then the author has the nerve to say "who the freak is Jean Pascal"!?!?!? That guy really came off as a ***** who was just trying to discredit Carl Froch. Maybe he should watch more boxing fights on the fighters he has to cover before he starts writing nonsense.
