Quarry just much more versatile. Layne was a fun, straight ahead brawler with a good fight hand and a good chin before Marciano broke it, but Quarry was a skilled guy who could have done better if not for his alcohol problem and a penchant for boxing when he should have fought, and fighting when he should have boxed (as Foreman put it).
Prob plays out similar to Quarry Lyle. Quarry by decision. Think Layne makes it a little closer fight though than Lyle did. I think Layne beats men like Bonavena, Machen, or Folley at his best. They had similar careers except Quarry didn’t give up after losing to Frazier or Ellis and continues to be a pro. Layne destroyed his legacy by packing it in for a pay check
I think there's a lot in a name. Do you want a guy named after a GD Tyrannosaurus or a guy who's just named Jerry?
I swear that i remember you making this question into a thread before yes you did, its here https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/jerry-quarry-v-roland-lastarza-rex-layne-don-cockell.608868/
