A good chance to ask this question as a thread would be a waste of space.
Does anyone know why Braddock took over Two Years before fighting again (Louis)? Why the break? Obviously he needed some big paydays if the movie portrayed his personal situation correctly.

Well, the Schmeling-Louis fight was something like an Eliminator for Braddock´s title, Schmeling won and so was the number one challenger for the title. But nobody wanted the title to go to Germany. There was a fight made for, I think september, '37 but Braddock pulled out due to an injury, if he really had one or not is up to speculation. Then there were negotiations between Braddock´s camp and the camps of Schmeling and Louis which blocked any title match. The outcome is known I think.

I like Braddock. I think he has a lot more reach and is more durable. Quarry winning by knockout would be a real stretch. Even past his best, Braddock was good enough to edge Farr, who did not have Quarry's punch but was a better boxer.
