    yet for the most part, he did get away with it! he was still pretty successful.

    The style he used against Mayweather was not his normal style. Usually he'd keep his hands up, until he got into brawling mood after which all defense was usually thrown out of the window.

    Fair enough, i just rewatched only the last couple of rounds of the fight and made the observation.

    Yeah, and he got knocked around by Ivan Robinson as well. Gatti was not an Elite-level operator IMO. Elite-level balls? Absolutely, off the scale.

    agree but with the style of punching and workrates, throwing 1 punch then clinching a lean back style. whoever brought up vitali is bang on. he uses a similar style because it works for him BUT he can because of his massive size advantage.

    as a whole, i feel completely that a hands low, lean back style is a weakness except for the rare physical specimen who thrives on it

    in winning the world titles he did and beating some decent competition he was world class in a way. but he was never linear, and likely wouldn't be linear, even if given the shot.
