Jim was right. He didnt even land a punch and won the so called " Heavyweight Championship of the World." That was the biggest fluke/ farce ive ever seen for a title fight. Martin stepped on glazkovs foot, Glaszkov twisted his knee and went down hard. He was injured tried to continue, and went down again shortly and much worse that he couldnt continue. It was a crime in the first place for Fury to be stripped. Not only did Martin not deserve the "title" fight, he won via a foul with not even a punch landing. The fight should of been a no contest ffs.
No he's not a real champion like Tyson Fury who fought scared out of his wits and did everything in his power to avoid an exchange with old ass Wlad once and won by landing a whopping 7 punches a round in one of the worst Heavyweight matches I've ever seen.
Nobody said he was incorrect about what did factually happen. What he didn't have to do was keep harping on it and belaboring the point. Yes, we get it, Jim, that was an unsatisfactory ending. Nobody was happy with it - not even Martin himself, even though it gave him a world title for basically free! Gray needed to STFU. Things like that happen, just part of boxing, needs to be accepted. It wasn't Martin's fault. (which, to Gray's credit, he did eventually acknowledge when the crowd started getting riled up...but only after he spent the entire interview shrieking about it, so his attempts to be diplomatic at the end just comes across even more disingenuous and sleazy)
True. Martin was bragging that it was power that was physically moving Glazkov and made him twist his knee. BS Martin didnt even land **** at all. He stepped on Glazkov's foot and twisted his knee. It was an unintentional foul that he the fight won on. It shoulda been a NC
This. Gray wasn't highlighting that the ending was unsatisfactory. He was highlighting that Martin should have showed more class and respect to Glazkov. I don't mind Gray. Like anyone, he can have an off night, but he was right last night. I love boxing and respect the participants, but often boxers come out with absolute dog **** and they should be pulled up on it.
There was no reason to call Martin on anything. He was clearly just having fun in the moment. He came off as funny and likable, while Gray once again behaved like a jackass.
Takes huevos just to step into a professional boxing ring against pro fighters who can seriously hurt you (look at the result from the Wilder fight). And then you have b@ss clowns like Jim Gray on the Showtime payroll.
No, we can name 20 guys that should have been given the shot over Martin. Jim Gray was keeping it real why all the hate. Kellerman is just as bad if not worse anyway let's be honest here. Merchant was also definitely more of a troll then gray.
If we get rid of all the commentators this forum hates there won't be any left. Geez, what a bunch of whiners.
All commentators get hate for some reason. Whenever you see a commentator or journalist have a go at a boxer, fans of that boxer often mis-read it as hate. They don't seem to understand that any fighter, whether you, me or the commentator himself loves or hates that fighter, is rightly open to criticism, just as they are rightly open to praise.
