In fact booth should get major credit, i always picked groves to win as thought he had more heart, more grit....BUT he won because he had done the superior game plan, and trained properly.

Degale looks incredibly talented, but coming forward and not throwing anything shows me he was not taught the methods to break down a boxer moving on the back foot like that.

Yeah good man, im glad you said sorry...becuase you were a ****ing muppet slagging Groves off, i mean its not like he actually offensive like a toney, mayweather or degale...

On a side note, things i didnt know before, Groves need to get his starting strength up (man strength) and a possibke move to 160 i feel could be on the cards....Degale was far stronger and more powerful of the two which i did not see.

I also think both men will get cracks at the world title....not sure if they become champions as they would still have to improve vastly.

And my biggest gripe goes to McDonell....if you actually see the rounds Degale dominated....it was when he went slighly on the back foot himself instead of chasing Groves, if he reversed his game plan could have been a totally different night.

And lastly im well happy for George, he still a young man....you did well mate.

No this is a fundemental misunderstanding of my post :D If you've seen any of my other posts i've been singing the praises of Team Groves' gameplan they got it spot on. My point is if Degale and his team had prepared for every situation and not just Groves to come out throwing the bombs he would have stood a better chance of winning. Its not taking anything away from Groves from or Booth its simple logic, if you get it right in training theres a significantly better chance you'll perform on the night. Groves showed it the right way, Degale showed it the wrong way.

You cant compare my assesment to Jonny Nelson's arse-licking, that wasnt the worst James Degale in fact considering he had no tactical knowledge of how to deal with what was in front of him he did well to make it so close. That's my point :good

    I agree with this...

I've got a contact inside the Groves camp, I was told on Friday that Booth & co are 100% confident Groves will win, but only if he sticks to the gameplan.

I was told in no uncertain terms that Booth knows (as does GG) that if he goes out swinging & looses his head, he will lose the fight.

This fight was all about tactics & planning. Booth got it bang on, McDonell getting sacked..

The Degale camp def got their tatics wrong and underestimated Groves. True. However, I think people are a little too quick to point fingers.

It would be interesting to see how much Degale can progress under a differenent trainer. I like Tibbs, he will correct Degales fundermentals and bring his attitude down to planet earth. Also, making the trip to the US would do wonders. Out there he would just be another boxer learning his trade

I think this is what I disagree with. I don't think DeGale did do well to make it so close. The chosen strategy of the Groves camp meant it was going to be almost impossible for it to be anything but.

I cant see any team going into a fight with the intention of winning a MD by a point on 2 cards but thats your opinion fair do's man :good

Degale had sparse pockets where he had success and in the 2nd half he did imrpove and did enough to nick quite a few rounds. Strictly linking to the thread this is about Jimmy Mac who did nothing to give Degale tactical knowledge in the event that Groves 'played Mr Technical' if Degale had the apparent worst night Mr Nelson claimed he had Groves would of won by more than the odd point. As i said I wanted George to do the biz, right man won and Degale needs to man up accept the loss and learn. But he cant learn if he doesnt have a teacher giving him the knowledge

Can someone pull up some of Jim's quotes in the build up to the fight? He certainly had a lot to say.

Just a cheer leader and motivator, that's all ! Maybe Degale hired him because he was he was his biggest fan ?
