How did these two pair up? what was it in Jim Mac that James saw and thought he's a good trainer. Apart from success with Danny over a faded Tyson what other success has he had?
James went around country i believe meeting trainers and doing sessions and felt Jim was best for him. Personally from the moment this was announced i was shocked and didn't agree and still don't.
Just watch Jim when he is prepping Tak n Degale.......he is on fire. Being an ex fighter himself....you can understand the way he gets worked up. I got a pic with him not so long ago and i kid you not, i was shocked......he was looking primed. Mands will confirm.
James wanted someone to pat him on the head & blow smoke up his arse. Jim fits the bill perfectly. What DeGale needs is someone who can teach him better fundamentals, he throws some of the worst looking hooks I have ever seen.
Most likely degale likes what he hears from mcdonnel....not an obvious yes man, but pretty much a subtle yes man. Jim showed his immaturity when he started questioning Adam booth...saying he never fought before, scraping at the bottom of the barrel.
shame really as degale has some talent. Even the smug looking **** that is Adam Booth looks a better trainer than Jim, how Jim didn't come back with a plan during the James and Groves fight underlines it all.
No technical improvements in four years - if anything DeGale has gotten worse. He either inspires no respect in DeGale, or he lacks the tools to teach fundamental boxing 101.
