Never had a problem with his commentating until tonight, he was so negative and he led pretty much all the casuals I talked to into thinking Valuev won the fight.
He gave Haye absolutely no credit because he was angry that Haye didn't come out bombing like he had predicted.
this guy has been grateing on me since since the early eightys when i was a kid i just cant bare that whining accent no more :tired ,will someone please send this thread to sky :happy
agreed. i understand he had to try to be objective, but he was scoring rounds to valuev when he didn't even get close to landing a punch. i get the fact that you can't give a round based on only landing one or two decent punches, but he was scoring to valuev when he hit nothing but air! lost count of the times i screamed THAT at the tv. what a ****
He's always been shite. Takes far too long to change a previously held opinion and lets this influence his scoring in rounds that differ from the rounds from which he gleaned that opinion. Without doubt the funniest/stupidest comment he ever made was when Hatton caught Mayweather with a jab in the opening round and Watt came out with "Hatton's better than he thought he was!". He then proceeded to pipe down once PBF started turning on the style.
He was shite as usual! Before the fight he was talking **** about haye..unprofessional, no game plan, lack of stamina etc etc. Then when haye puts together a nice game plan(coulda done with more punches) watt has a go at him for being too negative! TWAT!
I could see where Watt was coming from tonight. It seemed to me he was making a conscious - and to be fair given the history of Valuev and boxing in Germany, reasonable - effort to score the fight as he imagined the judges would do.I thought Haye won the fight but when the bell rang at the end was by no means confident that he would get the decision. I definetly agreed with Watt that Haye should have let his hands go and tested valuev's chin a bit more, although this is mitigated by Haye's comments about hand problems after the fight. I did enjoy Johnny Nelson co-commentating on the McCloskey fight mind you, wouldnt mind seeing him getting a wee shot at it in other fights and having Watt in the studio for analysis now and again. In saying that, you cant beat an animated Watt hollering "'''Is legs huv gone ! 'Is legs huv gone !" when somebody is in trouble :rofl
i dont think he was good tonight, but i think jim watt should stay, and love his rants, and would be a sad day without him, ****ing total legend. brilliant. guys you would miss him
