    Tua was a big puncher but I doubt he was the hardest puncher ever! Some of the guys you've listed for comparison were (with all due respect to David and them) bums! The only "Great" fighter he faced was Lewis and I do not recall Lewis wax lyrical about David's power the way the ATG's like Ali, Foreman, Holmes do about Shavers. The fact is that ALL the world class fighters Earnie fought all said the same thing "Nobody hit me harder than that guy Shavers"! I appreciate that none of them fought Tua but not every fighter David has fought has heaped such praise on him! That said, Tua was definitely a tremendous puncher and I for one would rank him highly on any "Hardest punchers of all time" list, but he certainly isn't #1 imo.

    Last time Stallone ever said to Shavers, who was refusing to hit him hard, "C'mon Earnie, show me something real."

    :rofl

    Earnie ------> :bokc

    Sly ------> :barf

    Let's be honest here, Foreman fought a lot of bums, just like Shavers. Foreman had more skill, and was bigger, but he was also a more clubbing puncher who got you in trouble with heavy combinations. Shavers had explosive power and could put you on ***** street with one punch.

    Foreman was also patient, and that helped against a guy like Frazier, who had to come forward to win his fights.

    Who was it who said when comparing the power of different punchers that Shavers carried his power right through the fight?

    He remarked that a fighter like Norton could occasionally land a bomb that was as hard a shot as Shavers ever threw,but that Shavers power was more consistent.Every punch of his was murder.

    Where's Mendoza and Bummy?

    Young says Shavers hit the hardest.
    Lyle says Shavers hit the hardest.
    Norton says Shavers hit the hardest.
    Ali says Shavers hit the hardest.
    Holmes says Shavers hit the hardest.
    Cobb says Shavers hit the hardest.

    Mendoza and Bummy say he's an overrated slugger ..

    They are entitled to their opinions, make your own decision ...

    Thinking up an argument to prove that Vitali hit harder than Earnie.

    Cobb i reckon. I recall him saying similar. EVERY time he hit with ANY kind of punch Cobb said it hurt like hell. Basically.

    That'll be KO% i bet. Vitali has a higher KO % and Vitali fought harder and more durable men and yada yada yada. Never mind the reality of it.

    Yeah, Both Lyle, Ali and Young rates shavers above Foreman, but Foreman was physically stronger.
    Big George's presence in the ring was amazing, looking like he's just about to punch another sack of meat.

    Yes indeed!! Young was if anything, an honest guy, as shown by a quote by him in a Sports Illustrated article years ago ..."I don't fight to win".(acknowledging his negative defensive style), imagine the balls or the honesty for a fighter to admit to something like that!!

    Why on earth would anyone include Norton when asking Young such a good question, but not Cooney? That's totally ridiculous. His list contributes nothing to me now since it would be the obvious choice to begin with.

    YES! Tuaman was forgotten from my list...... I'm not a fan of Tua, but his raw power is there just like Shavers.......

    I like Ol' Shaverman but, I still insist his # 1 All-Time hard hitting MO-FO legacy is over-played.......

    Don't you believe Louis hit harder than Marciano? He was a better puncher, but not more power.

    I mean, there's a record for people saying this. Not as long or as convincing as this list, but you get my point I hope.

    MR.T,

    While neither "Weaver or Thomas" are considered ATG fighters at heavyweight, let's not sell them two MO-FO's short on their power shots..... In their primes, if either dude landed the bomb on the button, the victim usually went down and out for the evening...... Them two get respect from me as punchers.........
