I like seeing skilful fighters in action for sure, but personally, I feel that Marquez's and Mayweather's skills get overrated big time.

And in fact, it's quite easy to see who did bring it up if you look at the thread from the start.

Both Robbi and Vlade tried that card and it didn't work :good

Marquez won more close rounds, Pacquaio won more 1sided rounds. Despite having it 114-113 Marquez I thought the right man won because Pacquaio was more dominant in his rounds. If Pacquaio won the closest rounds in the fight in rounds 1 & 11 he would have won my card 115-112. Its a fight that really could go either way

I totally disagree. Marquez won more clear rounds.

I finally saw the fight this afternoon, and I'd say, it was an evenly-matched fight.

No robbery. And if Pac didn't score the KD in 3rd, and he won, we can gather around and massed up a large rally behind him, but robbery is not teh case here.

I'll give my scorecards later. This reminds me of the first fight, either man could have won, or a draw would suffice.

I think even more people would be up in arms if another draw was fought, so I don't get the general boxing forums non-stop crying about it.

Wow, I doubt seriously that the forum would agree with you on this.

It really baffles me why anybody would honestly think that JMM's or Mayweather's skills are overrated.

I dont like Mayweather's public persona myself. I dont like his arrogance and the way he conducts himself, and I dont root for him...... but skillwise, I cant take anything away from him....he's one of those out of series fighters.....a special, special fighter, who commands the ring and can even beat fighters at their own game as he did against Ricky Hatton......that my friend is special!

What fighters around today are you impressed with skillwise Scientist?

yeha they probably wouldn't agree with me, but still, that's the way I feel.

    Not too many Vlade.

I do think Mayweather, Winky, Calzaghe, Hopkins, Mijares, Calderon, Marquez and a few others have some nice skills, but I'm not blown away with any of them.

I mean, what's there really to be impressed about when you see a 34 year old DLH push the no.1 fighter p4p in the world to a close fight, and see a 36 year old Shane Mosley push fellow p4p'er Miguel Cotto to a close fight? And so now Mayweather and Cotto is supposed to be the biggest bout in boxing waiting to happen?

If Mayweather and Cotto were really that good they should have clearly distinguished themselves from these aging vets. But they weren't able to do so. Ricky Hatton (especially with Cortez being a stickler) was made to order for Floyd and whilst he did well, it wasn't an altogether surprising result.

I've already aired my criticism of Marquez (especially in terms of his defense) so no need to repeat that.

Guys like Hopkins, Winky and Calzaghe are all rather ancient and will be out of the sport in a couple of years, which really leaves a bit of a barren landscape.
