Bugner never won over the British public but could he beat 'Hercules'??
Bugner of the Frazier fight, which showed guts and skill
    Against Weaver who hammered Coetzee?.
    15 rounds.

This has the potential to be a real hugfest.

I'll go with the bigger and stronger Bugner by decision as he smothers the offense of the much smaller Weaver.

Mike Weaver not being as skilled as Joe Bugner, took a beating from Big John Tate for 14 rounds in 1980, before landing a devastating KO punch to flatten him in round 15, to win the WBA Heavyweight title. Bugner lasted 24 rounds against both Muhammad Ali and Smokin Joe Frazier, in 1973. In the Frazier fight, he got decked by Joe, only to get up and finish the the fight, losing by unanimous decision. Weaver gave Larry Holmes some anxious moments in their fight, even hurting Larry's ear drum, in his losing effort against Holmes. on June 22 1979 , in Madison Square Garden, losing to Larry, by TKO12. Weaver by very close decision. Mike has to come on late to win this one over Bugner.

    Dreary bout.

    Bugner decision.

Mike does not have the footwork to close that gap against the tall fighters. And just who ever had a hard time landing punches on Weaver?

This would look something like the second Smith fight for Weaver. Bugner covers up when he see's Weaver telegraphing his big shots. and they would be one at a time and minimal combinations. And Bugner would just tap away with both hands and win the rounds. Horrible fight to watch and a strong likelyhood of like zero highlights.

Bugner in a snore bore.Bugner showed well against Frazier because he had no choice. Smokin Joe was on him all night,he had to fight to survive.

That s true, Frazier gave one of his last great performance here, Apart from manilla of course. And Joe B had to fight his best just to keep vertical!
There is always a danger with a guy like weaver, he lands a hail Mary shot and gets his opponent in trouble. Can't really see that happening here, unless Bugner gets to lax and let's his guard down. More likely Joe keeps covering up and patting away with the jab while Weaver can't really get going to do any significant work. Bugner by decision.

I like Weaver in this; I think he hits hard enough to keep Bugner honest and was strong enough to escape Bugner's attempts to clinch. Weaver also had decent enough boxing skills. I think Bugner survives but Weaver does enough work to get the points win.

This may not be dis-similar to Lyle-Bugner imo.
