Newsflash, there's being a fan of a fighter and defending him, and then there's the stalker type fanatics who will blindly defend any action their hero makes out of foolish loyalty.

The funny things is, the Calzaghe fanatics don't seem to realize that the fight vs RJ isn't being blasted because it makes no sense from a financial perspective, they are blasting it because Joe was dumb enough to GO ON RECORD saying the one fight he wanted most was Pavlik, and that he had no interest in beating Jones because he was no longer a great fighter. Had he been wise enough to think and not say those thoughts aloud, sure, there would be some critics out there, but not the full-blown disappointment in him for doing so. His flying off at the lip made a small deal into a much larger one, and he and his blindly loyal fans are going to have to deal with it. I'd love to see someone play the soundbites back at Joe and see him try to talk his way out of this mess.

Joe was drunk that day.

He's now realised the error of his ways, especially now that Abraham has come to boxing fans attention with his destruction of that glorified club fighter. He knows Pavlik should be proving himself as the best in his own division, just like Joe did before stepping up to legend level.

So now we have Joe 'Legend Killer' And Legend Calzaghe vs Roy Jones Junior The Legend.

He must be a regular drunkard because he made the quote several times. And for it to slip into his autobiography? I guess his editor was drunk too. But it would explain a lot of what I have seen in the ring from him in his last fight. Falling down, hugging another man half the night......

He wouldn't likely be drunk in the ring, its more a matter of his opponents being punch drunk by the time the nights out

Joe is a very shy family man, he needs a bit of Dutch courage before dealing with the UK press. Something could have slipped out about Pavlik when he really meant to say Roy Jones.

TFFP deserves to be on Calzaghe's payroll for all the spin he puts into this. Seriously, he does almost as much double talk to make me think he's Joe's agent or something. Maybe TFFP is Joe's mom?????
