Joe Calzaghe is the least proven, most managed undefeated fighter that ever lived

Why do you speak like all of us "Euros" stick together because we're from the same continent? You think an Irishman would support a Spaniard over an American because we're both "European"? sigh...American ignorance, it never gets old...well actually, it does.

Calzaghe is still the best super middleweight of all time, he didn't get there by fighting mid level opposition then retiring.

Max Kellerman and I believe Manny Steward both said they regarded him as the best super middleweight fighter they're ever seen, and Steward said he was one of the greatest fighters he's ever seen PERIOD, so did Sugar Ray Leonard, go speak to them.

You're an idiot that would rather bait someone, than have a proper in depth debate with them. You're wasting your time on this forum.

You'd pick Bika to maul a peak 168 version of Roy??

Yeah Joe controlled the second half of the fight, and it was a great fight. But the point is, Kessler wasn't/isn't a great fighter is he? He's very good, but he's not great! He caught Joe with some cracking shots in the first half of that fight, and he was hitting him at will.

I'll give Joe a lot of credit for taking them and coming back, but what do you think a 26 year old peak version of Roy would have done to him?

A peak version of Roy would have no trouble with Kessler, and I'm certain he'd have beaten any version of Joe.

Now if you really think that Joe would have embarrassed Roy at his absolute best, then you need a pyschiatric assessment!

How can he deserve credit when he HIMSELF dismissed Roy as a fighter on two occasions before they fought???

This is one of them. The other time was in 2006.

"Roy Jones is past his best."

"Would you see that as a let down to fight Jones as your last fight?"
    "Yeah.Probably."

"Roy Jones was a great fighter, but he is not a great fighter anymore"

If Roy was world class when Calslappy beat him, then so was Leonard when Norris stopped him and so was Chavez when Tszyu stopped him. Ali vs Berbick. Marciano vs Louis. All world class guys. In name only.....

Get someone to help you then, who can read.

Do you think that you're being witty putting that picture up?

All you've done is EMBARRASSED yourself in front of everybody that's reading this thread!

    Idiot!

Kessler is a very good fighter. But I wouldn't say he was a great fighter.

But the point is, if Kessler could cause Joe that many problems, then what would Roy at 25/26 have been able to do?

    Regards, Loudon.

I think a bunch of guys would have beaten a peak Jones at 168.

IF THERE WAS DRUG TESTING FOR THE FIGHT.

And Kessler is a straight up fighter ..Just watch the 1st 3 rds of Jones Calzaghe when Jones had some success with the lead right .Joe couldn't do **** and that was against a faded Jones ..Lets also not forget that a prime Jones could switch from orthadox to south paw at any given moment .Its a much diffrent Jones in the ring with legs !

I think Joe Cal is far and away the most over rated, over discussed fighter on ESB, but have to give him credit for beating a young, prime Kessler, albeit in one boring ass fight. Also, at the time he fought Lacy, Jeff was considered an up and comer. Hindsight shows that wasn't the case, but at the time the fight was signed we did not know that.

Still, in my opinion, one good win and a couple of cash out fights against faded legends does not make him approach ATG or HOF levels.
