I like how people are turning the Hopkins win into some type of huge achievement especially after so many people were not only choosing Calzaghe to win by a shutout but also a stoppage.
Chump??? You have a dozen posts, ALL of them filled with ill-informed anti-Calzaghe vitriol. You don't appear to know your ass from a hole in the ground. And you're calling other posters chump ???
Bernard Hopkins will never accomplish anything special throughout the remainder of his career. Your point?
He'll be remembered in his own country but not worldwide. Sad is'nt it your idol will not go down in history as a great like you want him to. He'll be known as the guy that slapped his way to victory, never hurt anyone but could ***** slap with the meanest wife's ever.
No. You're a bit off base here. The defeat of hopkins is not a huge achievement. I have said in numerous posts prior to the fight that Joe should be taking either the Pavlik/Taylor winner, or Dawson. But, if he give hopkins a bye, he would have been accused of ducking. (Even though Hops ducked him at a stage when Hops could have made it more competitive. And not because Bernard was scared, but because he was greedy) And if he took on the Hopkins fight, folks would say (like you seem to imply), no big achievement. And now he's in the same position with RJJ. if he takes Roy, the haters will say he ducked Pavlik, and vice versa. Neither has much chance against Joe. A prime Roy would have easily defeated him, but the current version is past his best-before date. In short, it doesn't appear to matter what Joe does or who he fights, his detractors will find some ill-thought drivel to write, some crap about ducking or opponent quality or some other shyte. The forum is full of it. just look at the haters of Floyd, Oscar, Roy, Cotto, Lewis....
Going the path of least resistance has been something quite common in Joe's career. So it really shouldn't surprise anyone.
Wow you actually took the time to make an account solely for the purpose of trolling. You must be immensely bored!!
Yeah, legend killer my dick. He's trying to make taking on old, shot ATG's at the end of their careers sound cool. What legend has he killed? He beat a past prime Chris Eubank who's more of a legend for being the toughest guy to wear a monicle than for being a great fighter, barley won a fight against 43 year old Bernard Hopkins just by throwing wild punches to Hop's arms and gloves as much as he could. Fighting RJJ is bull****, and there's no other reason to do so than money. I have ZERO ****ing tolerance for the low risk high reward mentality.
why are calzaghe fans forgetting to mention "old" when it comes to Bhop and jones? They put in the word legends and not old..:huh goes to show how biased this fans are
It shows nothing about bias. Joe is damned if he does (they were old !) and damned if he doesn't (he's ducking them !) Both guys had their chance to fight him BEFORE they were old, but neither did. (One would have beaten him easily if they fought prime for prime, the other would probably have lost at ANY stage of their respective careers)
There was nothing wrong with him fighting Hops, he was the man at lightheavy and that's who Joe needed to beat to get to the top of the ladder, but taking on Jones who is, like, what? the No. 6 Lightheavy currently is ass-****. Also, calling himself a "legend killer" is arrogant and pompous beyond belief, an absolutly sickening display of self-aggrandization. I think Joe is a damn good fighter: he has a top chin, speed, and his ability to adjust and step up his game when needed is very impressive, but as a person I find him extremly agitating.
I realize the punches he throws aren't the best punches, but I'm 24 and I couldn't throw 1200 of those punches in a fight
