Roy gets credit regardless of any situation He was the undisputed LHW champion of the world. Held the WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO, IBA, NBA, WBF....and The Ring. Calzaghe just held....The Ring and nothing else.
well Cal wasnt prime when he was at LH anyway. If he had gone straight to LH instead of staying in SMW for ever, then he would have had more impact for certain, managing at least a couple of legit defences before getting beaten. BUt no way would he be able to unify at LH like Roy (though remarkably, Roy was a Light middleweight who had progressed to LH) Cal never had the reactions and skill of RJJ to make up his weight deficit, certainlyCal would get whitewashed at HW. Thats why Cal never went to LH earlier, he wanted to stay unbeaten, and went only when he had two old opponents lined up (although he cut it a bit fine with Hopkins, who came close to beating him). Theres nothing wrong with Cal wanting to stay unbeaten, I said it before, but that ambition costs him a chance of being an ATG. But he was a wise man and knew his limits, fair play to him.
Jones lost to Tarver who lost to Johnson who lost to Tarver who lost to Hopkins who lost to Calzaghe. He wasn't undisputed he didn't have a tonne of defences but he beat the best man in the division, sure Hopkins was old but there's an argument that Calzaghe was more post-prime than Hopkins when they fought considering Hopkins a few years later is top dog in the division.
If you are saying that Hopkins, in his midforties, is the best in the LH division then you must think the entire division is a joke - no disrespect to Bernard in his twilight. but he was at least twice as good as he now. Sure he has the title, but only technically. Says a lot for BHops bravery, hes foolhardy in his aspirations. Its clear why Calzage picked Hopkins ads not a prime LH champ to face, because he knew he could outlast an old geezer, come what may, but a prime to LH would match him and wouldtnt let him get up from a knockdown. Cal I think was a top ten LH, but not the top of the tree in that weight class - thats why he retired FAST.
Sugar Joe held The Ring title at 175lbs, and nothing else. He wasn't Lineal champion. The Ring editor admitted they messed up with their light heavyweight title. Sugar Joe wasn't a paper champion in terms of sanctioning bodies either because held no abc titles at all at 175lbs. He only won the magazine's bogus title. It's good that most of you see sense on this issue, and have accepted the information I thoroughly destroyed GIMPerial1 with in the other thread.
Ur info was muddled with a load of ****. I had to find and expose tha truth go back and read tha last forty pages The other thread got backfired on the threadstarter Joe calzaghe is not a two weight world champion Team elite. ****ed up by trying to discredit rjj
What? My info was spot on, and I've always held the exact same views. Unlike you I might add, who has been quoted admitting Jones was a paper champion . I've told you already, I've got this **** all covered, no matter how much digging you try and do.
