I'd give Ward a chance against him. Slick, fast and very alround. Dirrell? No way. Dirrell fought a close one against Froch, and Calzaghe is a lot quicker then Froch, and has as much determination. Dirrell just dont know what to do in there.

Only someone who doesn't understand boxing would follow the feeble logic: "He throws a lot of punches, therefore he'd be a nightmare for anyone."

This betrays a dire lack of understanding of what a counterpuncher is. James Toney would welcome someone like Joe Calzaghe with open arms, and would promptly beat the stuffing out of him. A guy like Joe C coming forward with no defence and no head movement, flinging slips at him? Toney would ****ing love it. Death by Counter-Right to the Skull x1000.

And Calzaggers wouldn't even be able to throw lots of punches at Roy Jones, because he wouldn't get close enough to him without eating flush powershots, and when peak RJJ hit you with flush powershots, you stayed hit.

People are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay overestimating the value of mere volume-punching here.

I had Dirrell beating Froch by 4 points, but anyway, styles make fights, and Calzaghe would be a good fight for Dirrell I think. Dirrell has tremendous abilities, he just doesn't have the mental side sorted out yet. On his best night, he's a nightmare for Joe C. Would be a very interesting fight for sure.

:huh I'm not a Dirrell fan at all you cretin, I don't give a toss who won between them, just scored the fight because I score every big fight I watch. No need for tears or tantrums about it.

Joe Calzaghe is mentally one of the strongest fighters of the last decade and he could adapt to any style. He was the GOAT at 168. Deal with it.

"He could adapt to any style" - a very dumb thing to say.
