when you get time...tell me why an excellent fighter like calzaghe never fought a proven world class fighter in his prime then?

    i'm not doubting calzaghe's ability. i'm a fan.

but his career choices are embarrassing for a fighter with the talent he had.

There is no way Calzaghe is beating any of the all time greats. He fought an old Hopkins and squeezed a SD which many say he lost. He beat a shot Jones and an overrated Lacy and an unproven Kessler. IMO Calzaghe's record is very soft. To say he could beat Leonard, Hagler, etc etc is ridiculous.

Also I like Taylors bashing of Carl Froch, its fitting that Froch KO'd his ass. Calzaghe should have fought Dawson or Froch, Froch especially but he didnt and that will always leave question marks over his legacy, because he only went to america and beat two aged legends. Calzaghe is one of boxings biggest frauds.

its not the froch fight that will haunt calzaghe's legacy.

What will then? Froch called calzaghe out a lot and Joe jus dismissed him saying hes not on his level. But look at where Froch is now. Joe knew froch had the tools to give him nightmares and he didnt want to risk his legacy by fighting him clearly, maybe if froch was 40 he might have taken the risk. What fights do you think define Joe as an ATG?

:lol:The same tools Lacy had, is that it. Slow hands and plodding footwork. Froch was being soundly outboxed by Taylor for the bulk of their bout until Taylor went ahead and did what he's always done, gas. Froch calling Calzaghe out means **** all considering where they were at in their careers. Froch has only beaten Taylor a couple of months ago, a year or so after Calzaghe has moved to LH. Yet of all the fighters that Calzaghe should/could of fought, you think it was Froch who gave him "nightmares".

But Froch clearly had promise when he was calling calzaghe out, and the fight would have been huge over here in the UK, If calzaghe had taken the fight after the Jones fight. I also think Calzaghe should have fought Dawson or Tarver, instead of looking at Jones Jr just to get his name on his very soft 46-0 record.

I think Calzaghe should of fought a lot more quality fighters than he did. Rounding off his career with Dawson would of been great. But Froch "showing promise" means **** all. He's made his name now by having 2 good wins in the form of Pascal and Taylor. He's got a mega chance now in the upcoming tournament to put Calzaghe's achievments to shame. That's if he wins the tournament of course. He should forget all about Calzaghe and just concentrate on his own career. Had Calzaghe of gone back down to 168 and beaten Froch, he receives a little credit but nothing huge. He'll also be accused of ducking Dawson, especially considering his foray into the LH division saw him face to fighters on the wrong side of 40. If on the other hand Froch wins then the win is automatically discredited due to Calzaghe being "shot" and "weight drained". The fight makes financial sense, but that's all. Neither fighter will win out legacy wise.

Absolutly:good "Planet American's" will always find a reason too squeal the house down when their "Boxing" home land security is breached:lol: Look how they raved over Lacy as the next big thing until Calzaghe put on that clinic & as per usual "Planet American's" turned on Lacy calling him a bum in chorus like the rabid pack of sheep there are:smoke

I'm British, and I think Joe's failure to take on the best means he will never be considered as great as Hopkins, Jones, or other middleweight greats.

Well said, anyone that looks at all the middleweights in their prime that he ducked by moving up, has to admit that he avoided a lot of great fighters. I applaud his move, but to call him an all time great is striking dumb.
