This is how the fight will look. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNASdyzcQ54[/ame] But for about 8 - 10 rounds. ------------------------------- Listen to the HBO commentry where they discuss Calzaghe not being able to have success on the outside or the inside. The outside and inside is Ward's forte. Ward wont allow Calzaghe to get into his rhythm
yeah thats about it, JC had good boxing ability but not great. He would come up short versus an outstanding distance and inside boxer. Thats not to say his other weapons in his armory wouldnt help him out, but on pure boxing skill, he gets shown up. His skill is about on par with Robin Reid level, which is a good level, but he cant unlock Bhop or Ward like that. He'd have no option but to go for the workrate advantage, its blatantly obvious what Cal would do, but that wouldnt work so well with a 100% Andre who has a young mans fitness. But in Wales he'd probably get the nod. You can see why he stayed there for so long.
A good match up but Wards shown me nothing at this point to suggest he'd handle Calzaghes output. If he spoils at every opportunity like Hopkins he has a chance, a slim one.
Ward already lost to some bum called Boone. Ward did OK against the slowest SMW champion of all time, Robotic Froch, and scraped against a shot Bika. Calzaghes worst performance was with a broken hand against Robin Reid in which he still won comfortably, a bloated shot to pieces brittle handed Joe also smashed prime Hopkins a supposed ATG in his back yard at his best weight. Ward will never come close to Joe.
That's why all the best wins by Hopkins are post Calzaghe:deal Also Hopkins was never about strength, reactions etc, his was about ring knowledge, which is gained with experience. Hopkins post Calzaghe would beat any version of his old self, and beat any version of Ward. I dare say Calzaghe could beat Ward now if he came out of retirement, but I doubt Ward has the heart to fight someone like Joe.
Hey Anglosaxon, how's things going? Looks like the body building project is going very well! Are you done with boxing now? Or is there a chance you might lace up and step into the ring again?
Hey Knockout, thank you:thumbsup I have started a thread to help people here : http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=376874 and released a sneak peak [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk8e77rRF2s[/ame] I am officially retired from boxing, however, I am considering entering MMA during the summer. I will probably start training with a view to fighting in a years time. Other exciting news, a clothing line and modelling contract with a gym clothing line is nearing completition, both to be on the web within the next 3-4 months:happy:happy P.S I would never rule out a return to boxing.:yep
Looks like things are going great (no homo), that's an awesome set up you have in your gym as well! The supplement thread looks a great read, I'll get round to it when I have time. I look forward to the updates on your MMA training, best of luck!
The margins of lost across the spectrum of abilities are just too numerous at 42. For starters, if you dont have the lungs, you arent going to last 12 rounds at high pace. Whilst I'd agree that 42 year old Bhop would school 30 year Bhop for six rounds, he wouldnt cope the distance if young man used his youthful lungs and sharpness to turn up the pressure.
Ward may have already hit his peak, maybe he wont hit his peak for another 5 yrs, who knows. I think Calzaghe wins a narrow split decision after initialy struggling to pin Ward down. It looked as if Ward was tired during the latter rounds of the Froch fight after outboxing him for the duration of the fight quite comfortably, if he gasses against Froch sure as hell he would gas against Calzaghe who brings pressure, speed and guile in the bucket loads.
