Joe Calzaghe vs Nigel Benn - who would have won?

Imo Joe gets stopped no doubt, lets get real Reid gave Joe all he could handle, Jones and Hopkins both had Joe down. Benns record is at another level compared to Joes. Im really shocked at the amount of people who thinks Joe takes this. Joe does not have the power to stop Benn,Joe would have to out box Benn as his busy slapping style wont be enough to make Benn go on the back foot. Sooner or later Benn catches up with Joe and its game over. Benn also had a much better defense than he is given credit for.

 

people forget how fast benn was, even if he was a little clumsy due to that.

I can only judge this on the very best of both fighter, their best performance and for me Benn beats Calzaghe.

The Benn that beat McClellan, Benn that night beats any Calzaghe. It would have been a great fight if they both came in at their very best.

The Joe that beat Jeff vs The Nigel that beat Gerald, would have been A WAR!

Benn's power is the winner in this fight.

 

How do you know Benn planned 12 rounds with the fighters that took him late atsch. Also all weighed in at SMW for those fights and Wharton did for a SMW title fight with Reid some time later.
You forget that Calzaghe was never having to hold to survive or on bambi legs in his career

 

Piper was naturally much bigger and Wharton was a huge hitter with a concrete chin. I'll go with berry again. Benn went to Piper's body all night and jabbed Wharton all night. No longer the wild headhunting swinger. He wouldn't outbox Calzaghe and would've known that.......

 

Joe would never fight Benn, tis not the cowardzaghe way. only when Benn was 40something, then he might. And he would travel to Benns own backyard in Britain, to go life and death to edge a gassed 40somethin benn out.
