I like Joe but at 31 he'd been pro for 10 years and a champ for 6. Kovalev has been pro for 5 years and a champion for 1. Naturally his resume isn't as deep, though it ain't miles off either. With the Pascal fight lined up and Stevenson having been ordered by the WBC I'd say they'll be fairly close should Kovalev win both fights.
Do you believe that someone who keeps fit all year around and exercises regularly changes the day they turn 40? So if at 20 someone runs 5 miles a day, and do this say once a week every week. Do you think that they are fine doing it at 39 years and 11 months, but would suddenly struggle on the day they reach 40? atsch. Funny how Hopkins cardio seemed ok against Tarver, Wright, Pavlik, Pascal, Dawson, Cloud etc
There is alot I agree with, with what you have posted and I often felt that Calzaghe becoming a champ so young when many wouldnt face him, has given mixed opinions. Reid didnt want to face him in a unification when WBC champ and Ottkes trainer admitted Ottke didnt want to know. When there were champs willing to unify, it happened. Do you really think the Pascal fight is a legacy builder? Pascal I believe was 28 when he couldnt beat a 45/46 year old, was beaten by Froch who lost to faded Kessler, who Calzaghe beat. Stevenson would be a good win for Kovalev, but really. look at Stevensons resume and it isnt the best - Dawson coming off a clear loss, Cloud coming off a loss to a fighter almost 20 years older, Bellew, Fonfara and Sukhotsky. Still I agree it would be a good win for Kovalev
Well he seemed to end his career at the top. Some fighters never seem the same after a loss ie Calzaghe/Lacy, Froch/Bute, Ward/Dawson, Hopkins/Pavlik, Hopkins/Cloud etc
It was a shame Lacy damaged his shoulder in his fight after Calzaghe. He still scored a good win on paper but didnt look as effective when the shoulder went in that fight and not in any fight after
I didn't even know Jeff fought a week ago, I would of went it was 30 min. away! Yeah once his shoulder went, he was done.
Hakkar was his mandatory it was fight him or get stripped. Slappy could never LEGITIMATELY beat Hopkins & he knows it.
But the rematch would have been in Wales in front of the faithful Calzaghe fans. What a way to repay them for their support? You are as bad as the Floyd fanatics calling Floyd-Ortiz a KO win for the coward. Calzaghe left for a life of cocaine, alcohol & debauchery because he knew to rematch Nard he'd get CREAMED!! Anyway where is the racism in calling Calzaghe white?? You all call Afro American s black fighters don't you??
Give it a rest you absolute fucking freak. You've been saying exactly the same shit for years and years now. You have to be seriously mentally disturbed to do what you do. You post on about four or five topics and literally constantly repeat yourself saying the same things over and over again. It wouldn't be so bad if you possessed even a modicum of wit or genuine humour. But you're not even remotely amusing. Never have been, never will be. Why don't you go and take a bath with the toaster you useless bastard? Oh yeah, and merry xmas.
It's not us who are doing it, it's Bernard "The Alien" Hopkins. His stamina looked fairly well against Kelly Pavlik.
At SMW, yes. Andre Ward had his shot to catch up with him, but missed out on it while he talked about what he was entitled to.
