Froch would probably be Joe's easiest fight out of the 6. He is far too easy to hit. Calzaghe would put an absolute schooling on him.
I agree, Froch's lack of defence would lose him every round against Calzaghe. He'd box Froch's ears off for a decision.
Epic Fail. Calzaghe does not get outworked, ever. Have you not seen the man fight? As for his 'pitty pats' if thats all he threw then ANY pro boxer would simply walk through them... this does not happen, why, as in between his 'pitty pats' he throws a good few hard punches, the guy on the other end of the barrage has no idea which will be which until they land, has no choice but to cover up.
Oh come on! People are conviently forgetting that Calzaghes hand problems were worse than Kesslers. Anyway Calzaghe would ud the lot of them.
Ward - best chance because of his attributes and style. he can make the fight very ugly for 12 rounds. Dirrell - is in many ways unproven Froch - open defensively and too slow, Lacy all over again Kessler - we know how that went Taylor - likely tko'd late. his stamina can't hold up to what Calzaghe's going to do to him for 3 minutes of every round. Abraham - the strategy of covering up, looking for counters and take over the fight late when opponent tires is suicide against Calzaghe
Kessler couldnt do any sparring weeks before the fight. But still - I think Calzaghe would have won because of his workrate. We will never know for sure
Calzaghe apparently didn't do a single round of sparring against Robin Reid. Its something fighters just have too put up with.
from my understanding reid almost beat Calzaghe in that fight. so maybe the lack of sparring had something to do with this.
So you don't have the balls to come right out and say what you really mean, and instead post rubbish Ward has a higher workrate, chin and defence than anyone else Calzaghe has fought - is that what you're saying?
<sarcasm on> oh but mate, Auracle isn't saying that, what he's actually saying is that Lacy and Kessler were Joe's only 2 great prime opponents  <sarcasm off> Forget this Auracle guy, he's still trying to make his mind up as to what he's actually saying, and instead is flipping between claims of being sarcastic and speaking absolutely uninformed rubbish.
Calzaghe barely spars. Occasionally against Macarinelli - but that's a rarity. It's why he always seems to take a few rounds to get warmed up lately. He's never been outworked, and actually is a natural counterpuncher - he'll murder anyone who tries to outthrow him. Fact remains - he's faster than the super six, better stamina, and could come back from retirement, and it'd be a HUGE shock if he was to lose a single fight, let alone not win the entire thing. None of them have the package of speed, stamina, work rate, experience, adaptability (that has been unparalled in recent times) and the general, unpreparable package - you can prepare for any of the super 6, but you can't for Calzaghe. Sad as it is - short of one of the best individual performances since Duran/Leonard 1 - their only chance is Calzaghe getting old overnight.
Good fight. Reid was a decent world class fighter in those days (if a little inconsistant) but I thought Calzaghe won a clear but hard earned ud. Never understood the controversy myself. Lack of sparring probably did affect him but he found a way to get through it as fighters often have to. If we keep on making excueses for fighters we could end up discrediting worthy winners. Actually the fight is up on youtube and is a really good scrap, check it out just for entertainment value!
