As a boxer, Ricky Hatton is not in the same league as Joe Calzaghe. He just doesn't have the skill

He had the balls to step up and take a 30 billion zillion payday. Good luck to him

Deep down I'm pretty sure you know this

So even more reason for him to have tested that skill then. Deep down you know this is true.

Nooooo I don't know this at all.

Please explain why Calzaghe is better than Hatton, skills-wise. I'm all ears.

He's a league above Calzaghe purely by taking on the P4P number 1 in the sport, as I said before.

I could find journeymen that have been in with some of the best fighters to ever live

It doesn't make them better at boxing, it makes them courageous

    Talent is born not made

    Voice of reason.

I suspect Calzaghe has been KO'd a few times in sparring against larger opponents (maybe Maccarinelli?) which dissuaded him from moving up in weight to face a monster like Jones.

He was certainly close to being KO'd a few times by robotic, predictable Kessler, so him being KO'd in headgear against Enzo isn't too far fetched.

So why has Joe not put that talent to the test? The challenges were there.

Oh **** me, he might have been hurt by Enzo, a big cruiserweight, someone hang the guy. Christ on a unicycle that's not relevant to anything

He was nowhere near getting KO'd against Kessler. He was stunned, as they were flush powerful shows from a good puncher. Maybe even slightly hurt. He never went down. He never looked like going down

    Stop making stuff up

In other words you admit Brunos competition level is better than Joes then?

    Thanks for that :yep

Now lets discuss Lennox Lewis who had twice the competition that Bruno did, and beat them ALL.

Then you can point out to me why England will never produce a boxer as good as Calzaghe again.

You also seem to be admitting that Joe isn't courageous....about time one of the nut-huggers saw the light.

Did you really think so? Not disputing it just curious to know which rounds you thought he might be going.

The obvious reason for that is he was nowhere near being KO'd

Go and watch it again for yourself. He took the shot, looked a bit stunned, as you would

    Nothing more

Fighting Weight, Lennox Lewis is a great fighter. I didn't mean to say you have never had anyone as good as Joe Calzaghe. I was talking current. Ricky Hatton doesn't have a jab like Joe. He doesn't have the handspeed. He doesn't have the footwork. He doesn't have the adaptability - **** that's his biggest problem

They really are two different leagues. Joe is Manchester United. Ricky Hatton is Birmingham City, or some other pointless club

Calzaghe caught an uppercut against Kessler in one of the rounds and literally got knocked back across the full length of the ring. He wasn't just stunned he was seriously hurt, and a better fighter would have finished him.

I'm not making it up, watch the fight replay - Calzaghe won the fight sure but it was close, and Kessler is a predictable eurobum. Put Calzaghe in the ring with a seriously good fighter on his A game and he's getting KO'd for sure.

I suspect he has a poor chin, which would explain his reluctance to move up in weight.

I can't remember which round it was to be honest - I rewatched the fight the other day when they repeated it on Setanta because I remember at the time it happened I scored it 117-112 to Calzaghe (begrudgingly)

Watched the repeat and I think I had it 116-113, it was a clear win but Joe was wobbled several times by straight rights and once Kessler caught him with a big uppercut and Joe did a funny backward dance across the ring - had Kessler had the finishing instincts of a Mike Tyson Joe would have been KO'd I'm sure of it. Watch the fight again....
