    some perspective.

if jean pascal went up to cruiser and beat 40somethings james toney and mormeck, this doesn't mean hes ever in this universe gonna beat rocky Marciano, spinks and Tyson.

however, if jean pascal suddenly becomes a white man with a overzealous fan base from wales, then beating fat 40something mormeck and toney PLAINLY means he beats prime Marciano, Spinks, Holmes Tyson.....

    stupid thread.

if only we humans saw in black and white and not colour the world would be rid of such stupidity, it would get bred out in a few generations and we'd have bypassed the past horrors of racism to boot.

Who has Khan beaten that was on the same level at Kessler?

Kessler is not great but he's better than the guys Khan has defeated, and certainly better than Khan.

Maidana is good comparison for Kessler.

Khan faces as good opps as he can, joe fights lots of weaklings.

theres no will McIntyre defences on khans record.

Some real gems on this thread. Some of which deserve a

It's especially funny when people always resort to the American/Non-American card.

Some on the other side are over-critical of Calzaghe and act like he was some scrub. Calzaghe was very good.

The reason why Kellerman's pick is :huh is not because of a lack of quality on Joe's part. It's because it's against Michael Spinks. Spinks is one of the best, if not the best, 175 lb. fight ever on a H2H basis...in addition to also have great achievements in just 26 fights.

its because of the difference in quality, bottom line, at LHW, don't pretend its anything else.

god help joe if he got in the ring with a good genuine light heavy and not a 40something blown up from MW.

well it never happened, and not for want of a chance to, he had offers. with joe it never happens for a good reason.

Why, whenever people want to take a pot-shot at Calzaghe, do they always start talking about Bernard Hopkins as if he's a washed-up has-been who never accomplished anything significant at Light Heavyweight?

I would pick MS at LHW over JC. I do also think Mike is too big for Joe.

However, Calzaghe is one guy I wouldn't count out in any SMW or LHW fight in history.

Kessler was a better fighter than Maidana. Maidana happened to give Mayweather a tough fight, due to styles and aging on Floyd's part. He made some tweaks and improved, but still nothing special.

For a world class fighter, Khan is simply not very good. Like many of today's champs, he is fortunate that the talent pool is poor.

Has any all-time great fighter ever been so underrated (at least by the casuals and newbies) by one fight?

    I can't think of any.

So Ring had a poll of experts and asked them who would win between Calzaghe and Spinks?

    What were the results?

Why did they pick that matchup, that seems so random.

Since Spinks left 175, the fighter with the best shot at beating peak Spinks is Roy Jones. And even he would be a slight underdog.

Michael Moorer wasn't too shabby at 175. I think he could beat Spinks.
