oh dear you do take my point too the far extreme , when i say hype concerning americans i mean the ones that are hype, not those that are not, geez Mayweather is one of my favourites, just because i defend Calzaghe the majority across the pond think i`m bias. If i state my favourites theres many Americans in it and The Legend Morales too along with Calzaghe atsch
yeah it isnt 'right' that the boxing world revolves around the US, but thats the way it is. and if you're objective about ****** (which you have been so far) then you know he took advantage of this its not about 'staying at home' - its about being king **** on the biggest stage if you were the best basketball player in the world and you lived in the seychelles and called out magic johnson repeatedly, but he never bothered to indulge you because its a waste of his time.....would that be okay just because you would be worshipped at home? this is EXACTLY the same thing
Headbanger, before we start, I would like to say it is an honor to be able to debate with an ESB Icon.:deal Instead of listing the bums they fought, Calzaghe, Jones, Hopkins, Toney and every other great were all guilty at some point, we need to look at their great wins.. For instance.. Could Calzaghe at his best, beat physically prime Hopkins, P4P top ranked Toney, move up to LHW, beat Virgil Hill, move up to HW, beat Ruiz, drop back down and beat a hungry Tarver in his very next fight? At the same time, could Roy beat Eubank, Reid, prime Lacy, undefeated Kessler (great win), move up and beat Hopkins(very good win) at LHW? To me at least it would seem that Roy's path would be harder for Calzaghe than Calzaghe's path for Roy.. Would be interesting to see though.:good
You don't seem to know much about what you speak. Calzaghe wouldn't have beaten the younger version of Robert Allen that Hopkins fought. Not the Allen from the third fight. The Allen from the first two was a formidable middleweight and would have been Champion if Hopkins wasn't there. He would have also had trouble with Echols, and Trinidad. Hell, you could say he even dodged Howard Eastman, as Eastman was suggested as an opponent, instead of one of the dairy farmers Calzaghe was feasting on. Yet Frank ****** purposely low balled Eastman knowing that he wouldn't take that disrespectful purse amount to fight Calzaghe at 168. Offered Eastman something like 50,-70,000. You can't tell me that a guy who gets all he can handle and then some in getting a controversial decision against an old Hopkins who gassed half way through the fight, would not have gotten his arse pushed through his mouth by a younger version of Robert Allen, Antwon Echols, Trinidad, Eastman etc.
Yea I don't get it either. Jones won the hvw title and came back down and lost. But that's not a bad thing. His chin was never meant to go past smw. That's the real revelation.
Calzaghe still is a threat to some egos it seems. Why? Is it because of the way he looks? Where he is from? Be honest.
Calzaghe was just re-assuring his son that RJJ was not the same fighter. It does not state in your words that Calzaghe "stood no chance"
