Frazier all wrong for Spinks. As most top 10-20 punchers/pressure fighters would be at heavyweight. Spinks is possible the best LT.Heavy in history, but his career at Heavyweight was more perfect timing than substantial.
HUGE fan of Michael at light-heavy, love him almost as much as Eddie MM, Saad, and about as much as Marvin Johnson and Bob Foster. Michael was just a tremendous light-heavy, and I wish he'd ruled down there for awhile instead of coming to heavy and winning two fights against grandpa Larry (and both fights put together are doubtful wins, indeed), beating drug-addled Cooney and getting his head knocked off by Iron Mike. I would LOVE to have seen a Qawi trilogy. The light heavies would have remained a terrific division throughout the 80s had he stayed. Even the most diehard sports announcers, writers and people-in-the-know were overall unimpressed with Michael at heavy. It was only the boneheads who gave him a chance at winning (I crack up every time I think of this) against Mike.
Money baby.. Spinks got paid at heavy, especially against Cooney and Tyson. I can only imagine how differently he would be remembered if he had never fought Tyson. All casuals know is Tyson - Spinks. It’s fine though the dude left the game with some money and with all his faculties. I’ve met him a couple of times and he’s completely with it, smart as a whip, charming as hell, and a super nice human being.
