Banks was a known fighter. I think he was ranked at one point. Frazier was floored by a no-name, and as I said before he was down a few times in a short amateur career. The two best punchers Frazier fougth ( Foreman and Bonevenna ) floored him a combined 10 times in 4 fights. Frazier was also stunned and rocked by lesser talents in fights where his opposition did not land much.
Yes, I'd take Frazier over Carnera, B Baer, Godfrey, Willard, Simon, Valuev, those types. However, vs the best skilled super heavies, I think Frazier suspect chin vs power hitter, and small size, and lack of a right, jab or uppercut would hurt him. I think Bowe would defeat Frazier.
Don`t you think its possible Joe would hurt them as well? He hurt Ali more than once. And Ali`s chin was a lot tougher than any of these `super heavy`s` Frazier hit harder than Holy(who dropped Bowe and finished Tyson). Lewis, Klitchsko, Bowe, all the big boys didn`t exactly have granite chins...
Frazier did not have huge one punch power. He was more of a grinder, and needed to land a lot to take a natural heavyweight out. Bowe was never stopped in his career. Vitlai was never down by a punch. These two had good chins as super heavies. I do think Holy's hook is very under rated power wise. It rocked Ray Mercer's world and put him down, and if memory recalls did the same to Bowe, and Tyson.
Good point, I agree that Vitaly has a good chin. I was thinking more about Vlad. I think Vlad has better boxing skills than Vitali. But, Vitali is bigger and I think tougher with a better chin. As for Bowe, now you got me thinking about Bowe/Foreman???
Alright, Banks was a solid journeymen but look at Holmes as well. Larry was floored early on in his career by no name Kevin Issac, but his chin is far from suspect. Fighters do suffer mild setbacks early on in their career while their still learning. I'm not saying Fraziers chin is on par with a Chuvalo, but look at some of the punches/beatings he took from guys like Ali without falling.
