Joe Gallagher - asset or liability to Liam Smith against Canelo?

It doesn't matter who trains Smith he isn't beating Canelo.

 

Gallagher was awful in the Quigg v Frampton fight, let me down big time having to see the wee **** McGuigan jumping up and down with his snake oil salesman smirk.

 

All comes down to whether Smith has confidence in Gallagher which i'm assuming he does, feels in good hands leading up to the fight, backstage, the build up etc.

Let's face it, Smith could have the best of the best in his corner and it wouldn't make any difference to the result.

 

Smith might not have a proven track record at canelos level, but he is not without some advantages here. He is bigger than Canelo, taller, longer reach. Gallagher gets his boxers very fit so he should have a better engine in the later rounds if the fight goes long.

 

Your right Smith has two advantages against Canelo that is his engine and body punches, which I think Canelo is prone too due to his draining down. Problem is the guy has not thought anyone in the top 15 before this to even get him remotely ready for Alvarez. His not even fought the best domestic guys like Liam williams, Brian rose, Ahmet Peterson, Gary Cocoran etc, I want him to win but just seems a step to big. Not to mention even if Smith does box Canelo's head off and wins in the eyes of the public he has to KO Canelo in order to win coz these judges will rob him make no mistakes about it, imo the best he can hope for is to put up a good display which will raise his stock up for future fights coz that belt is as good as gone now.

 

Joe seems to have a plan A and thats it, i dont recall joe ever changing tactics through the fight he makes his plan and sticks to it win or lose.
He has a weakness in been unable to adapt but saying that he is a decent gym trainer who knows his fighters well

 

Certainly trains his fighters for fitness
Depends on his game plan
I've seen him give some fighters awful strategies

 

Joe saying fight is off if Fattyelo misses weight. Has he the guts to follow through on this threat? I don't think he does. Judging by the way young Shane McGuigan blatantly bullied him at the Quigg weigh-in, Joe hasn't got much backbone.
