If Joe takes it to the middle rounds he has a good chance.

One way or the other it will be a fact AFTER the fight :icon_popcorn:

Odds are worth a try for Joyce, I thought initially.... he's a big man and Dubois' chin has not yet been tested. He also has experience on his side...The problem is that people are getting really excited about Dubois and a loss that early in his career will be much more damaging in the long run!!! Joyce will be done as a contender if he loses, but will still be a dangerous opponent and a good match-up for anyone in the division...Cheers

If Joyce had a better defense, but I feel he's walking into a bomb sooner or later. Dubois looks like he could fight on the backfoot. But he hasn't needed to yet.

Feels like Dubois is sightly underestimating Joyce. He's so much better than he looks and I think Dubois is in for a shock!

Ive flip flopped a few times; but now settled on JJ. I think he''ll frustrate young Dan and wear him out mentally. Eventually succumbing to his wacky combos around the 10th. Dubois's looked good but he's fought garbage.

Joe Joyce is a fraud and Dubois will expose him tomorrow. No defense, no chin. Dubois KOs within 8.

Not big fan of either of them, but Joyce especially didn't impress me much in his recent fights.

Even though Joyce is far more proven against a much higher caliber of opposition amateur and pro, especially in the amateurs where he fought and beat many of the world's elite SHWs a whole bunch of whom are highly regarded fellow prospects and contenders now, and I rate him, and he really should be the favourite here given his amateur accomplishments and level of competition, my gut feeling has been that Dubois is going to clip him early because he's too easy to hit and he hasn't really been able to do anything to rectify that.

But people are acting like only Dubois has power here and that isn't the case at all. Joyce might throw a lot of arm punches at high volume but obviously he's a massive unit and those arm punches are still heavy and hurtful shots. However, make no mistake when he decides to sit down on his shots and slip in a full power one they're extremely heavy and we have no idea how good Dubois' chin is whereas at least in the WSB and so far in the pros Joyce's has proven to be very solid. It's hardly the best kept secret that Hrgovic bashed Dubois up the gym and it's clear he either stopped him or hurt him to the extent that he had to quit or be pulled out by his trainer.

And I've heard that Bakole also bashed him up in the gym too. Granted Hrgovic and Bakole are both beasts with very solid beards and huge power so there's no disgrace there but likewise so is Joyce who also possesses an insane engine and underrated skills and is very awkward. So that begs the question what happens when he detonates one of his bombs on Dubois' chin?

E-Hearn obviously alluding to Hrgovic and I strongly suspect Bakole hurting Dubois ''badly'' in the gym here

Thing is Joyce has sparred Dubois before and he respects his power (he even told Haye that Dubois hits really hard and that even his jab is very heavy) so I think he's going to try and keep it long and box in the early rounds to try and draw the sting out of Dubois.

The general consensus seems to be Dubois early, Joyce late but Joyce is also capable of ending this early too if he catches Dubois with something big and I've heard at least half a dozen of Joyce's sparring partners or former opponents say that when you actually share a ring with Joyce it's a lot different to what you expect it to be from watching him on film. His detractors say he's slow but I've never seen him struggle to land with consistently on any of his opponents and even though he might look stiff and ponderous he is very athletic. How many 6'6'' 260lb men have you seen who can do this? lol

I think a lot depends on Joyce's chin. Because he is going to get tagged by Dubois' right hand.

Something I did consider, and haven't seen anywhere else, is the fact that Joyce is inconsistent in his Boxing training. What I mean by that is that the guy is constantly changing his trainers, his style in the ring etc, Boxing from a Terminator style, to trying to box like a old school Latin Boxer etc.. At his age, I would find that worrying. Dubois is very consistent in his style and the possible improvements to it are very logical to see. Meanwhile, I don't know exactly how Joyce is going to come in and approach this fight. He could also age overnight. If Joyce can take it and boxes full robot, though, him winning wouldn't surprise me at all, but if he tries to be flash or box weirdly he could very well come untangled.

This is a cracking fight though - looking forward to it. I do think it is better for Boxing if Dubois wins, as long as it isn't a Warren Special.
