Exhibitions against US servicmen and pros dont count on your record.

The oposition in these exhibitions was such that even a 60 year old Louis could have anihilated them.

Louis wanted to quit after the Walcott fight.

    After he lost to Charles.

When he lost to Marciano he finaly did.

If he couldnt win the title he would not fight profesionaly and good for him.

I think what would have been interesting, since Louis dealed in wrestling, would have been a chance encounter between the near 40 Louis and the 50 something Jack Dempsey. That would have made for an exciting exhibition, imo, between two ring legends who, though passed it, still had something in the tank to have made something out of the ordeal.

Dempsey had several boxer vs wrestler matches, though all were in boxing format. His most famous one, though, was his first against Cowboy Luttrell that RING magazine proclaimed a disgrace. Dempsey, though, showed no mercy against the wrestlers, as rumors still persist to this day that Dempsey pulled no punches. And that was when he was 45.

For boxing fans, even seeing an old Dempsey and an old Louis in the ring together, would have been as close as we could ever have seen to what the two in their hey day could have done to one another, instead of the 'what if' scenario of what was arguably the biggest hypothetical match up of all time.

Dempsey was in his 60's by the time of Louis's retirement, and I belive Louis would have beating that Dempsey.

In fact, Louis would be 37 to Dempsey's 56.

That is way too much of a gap imo. Louis would have destory Dempsey.
