Quit trying to bring everyone down. It's not like Louis had a huge problem with any slick movers. Sure, you'd rather have a guy who could move well up against him then someone who had to take a few shots to get his own in, but Chris Byrd isn't Billy Conn. Billy had been "foolishly" taking the fight to Louis several times throughout the whole fight, and it was a big part of his success. He regularly threw his punches in the mix with Joe's, rather than waiting for him to miss and then retaliate. He often led and jumped in with his own attack before Louis. It ultimately cost him, but if he had fought a strictly defensive, negative type fight, he doesn't put up near the same level performance. Byrd's spoiling would be bothersome to Louis, it'd make him look a little ordinary at times. It might even see him last the distance, but it's not winning him the fight. Not against the best version of Louis.
Byrd is a good boxer, but I think him fighting Louis would look very much like the Ibeabuchi bout. Louis just comes forward, throwing bombs, knowing Byrd doesn't have much to keep him off - and sooner or later, Joe catches him with something big.
Byrd is under rated. The way that Vitally Klitschko has gone through the contendere, puts Byrds win over him in a new light. Perhaps Byrds best win for his resume, was his loss at 175lbs! It ended any doubt about what he was up against. Picking him over Louis is a stretch tough. Louis beat Conn, Walcott, Pastor, Ramage. If some of them made him lok bad, they all lost in the end.
Also, I'll add that Billy Conn was better at virtually everything than Byrd apart from defence, and would beat him H2H.
Byrd's defense and black slickness would allow him to survive 10 or 11 rounds but Louis is landing a clean blow eventually and that'll be the end.
Ibeabuchi hunted Byrd down and found him using the same combination over and over again. As good as Byrd was, Louis would only have to find one or two good punches before his finishing ability could take over.
Byrd was an ordinary contender. in comparison to Joe louis he is a second-rater at best louis would flatten him
Similar to the Ike fight. And Tyson against Mathis Junior. Byrd would look good for a little while until Louis times him, then its Goodnight Byrd Man. Louis had one punch Ko power and his accuracy and timing was great. If Ike could time Byrdy, Louis def could
This says it all very well!:thumbsup..Louis would have stalked Byrd, caught him and dispatched him like he did Conn, Walcott, Pastor or even Lewis. No way that Byrd would have beaten Louis.
