Joe Louis Knocks Dempsey out with a timed cross as Dempsey leaps in

Mid round KO win for Louis

    This is a great post!
Yes 1942 Louis had exponentially more experience against all kinds of fighters, a little more bulk, was physically still peak...
And had recovered from being overworked the whole year or so before!

Those odds are the best I would give Dempsey.
Louis was just a better, more evolve fighter.

jack moves to much for joe and jack is to good at timing for him agian people oddly pick joe knowing he moved bad and was known to be easy to catch from counters

I've always agreed with Mcvey. I think Dempsey, at his best, would pick his spots well, quickly, and score an early KO.

However, in a best out of 3 I would pick Louis to win 2.

I like Jack in this one by a brutal 4 round tko

I see Joe nearly being killed along the ropes as the ref pulls a snarling Dempsey off of him

    very well stated!

and for these reasons, the laws of probability suggest Dempsey by early tko

Thought about this one. Think if Jack can get him early he's in with a great chance. The longer it goes tho, the warmer Joe gets. He'd bulldoze his way to a decision or late ko.

I’m not sure Jack Dempsey is a more dangerous opponent than Max Baer.
So I see Joe Louis as the winner. I do not know how; on points, or by knockout.
Somewhere between Joe Louis Vs Max Baer, and Gene Tunney Vs Jack Dempsey.
But Joe Louis wins, because he is simply a better boxer.

It was noted in 1918, when Dempsey was at his peak, that he had trouble with a boxer who went on the offensive against him. He fought best against retreating or stationary fighters (almost everyone he fought save Firpo). If Louis elects to try and box, Dempsey might pull what to me would be an upset. If Joe attacks quickly as he did with Schmeling in the return, I think he handles Jack.
