Arturo Godoy was certainly among one of Louis's most durable opponents. In 124 fights, he was stopped only twice. Once against Louis and another time when he was at the end of his career around 37 years of age.. To determine weather or not he was more durable than Lennox Lewis one should at least prepare a list of the best hitters both men fought. For Lewis: - David Tua - Tommy Morrison - Mike Tyson ( past prime) - Evander Holyfield ( past prime ) - Gary Mason - Razor Ruddock - Vitali Klitscko - Michael Grant - Shanon Briggs - Hasim Rahman - Oliver McCall Not sure what a list would look like for Godoy as I dont know enough about his opposition to discern who was a big puncher and who wasn't. Joe Louis and Tony Galento are obvious pics. Lot of men under 200 lbs or just right around 200 though.
You have just answered your own MORONIC claim that Louis could ONE PUNCH KO someone the size of Lennox, in the same way as McCall and Rahman did you ******. I simply have to ask. Were you born stupid, or is it the result of a lifetimes work?
Just to clarify this patheticness. Were Joe Louis alive today I would bet he would be the most embarrassed person in the room looking for a chance to quietly slip away from the nostalgic idiots who make such outrageous claims on his behalf. I'm sure he would say he'd be happy to fight for the kind of money that Heavyweights are paid these days, and he believes he could win. But I have no doubt in my mind he certainly wouldn't be FVCKING stupid enough to say " once I nail this fool it will be all over " A great fighter in his own era, and far more importantly, a guy who would be totally embarrassed by his modern day imbecilic fanboys.
Poor Lewis is actualy still alive to see the quality of the arguments being put forward by you on his behalf!
Aw, stop with the era vs. era BS!! None of you seem to ever stop with this nonsense. As I've said before (and before, to death!) A 2000 Lewis has a 1940 Louis for, perhaps, an easy lunch. A 1940 Lewis vs. a 2000 Louis has two completely different men facing each other. Get brains and try to think about it!!! atschatsch
No where in this thread have I said Louis would ko Lewis with one punch, I said he ko'd many men as big as Lewis and had the capability to ko anyone. In between insulting other posters in your usual boorish ,and childish manner and generally performing like some obscene ,demented Tourettes sufferer ,you have made statements such as. "Schmeling kod Louis with one right hand. Lewis hit a lot harder than Louis or anyone Louis ever faced. Lewis annihilates Louis at his own convenience. Prime Ali toys with Louis. Prime Lewis is too much for prime Ali. It is like shooting fish in a barrel. Everyone Lewis beat hit as hard or harder than Joe. Louis was slower than molasses on his feet ,this guarantees Lewis could hit him at will with the jab ,,and bomb him with the right hand. Goodnight nurse after the first one of those huge rights lands. It's actually a slaughter. Lewis was not out jabbed by Bruno." You call me a moron and ask if I was born stupid? I won't suggest this applies more aptly to you, there is no need. You have successfully illustrated that it does.
I get involved in these threads and am guilty of starting some! I agree with you, really; there are too many "what ifs" to make viable comparisons, especially head to head. Even comparing reigns is difficult; does an undefeated record mean that much or can a guy with more losses be the better fighter before he fought more people generally accepted as great? I love the certainty people have in these arguments; they must make millions betting on boxing. It's hard enough to predict fights between great fighters in the same era!
Would that be the same Lewis who retired having beaten EVERY fighter he faced, and thus far isn't scratching by on charitable handouts like Joe Louis did. Nice try.
