Didn't Pulev struggle with and get a split decision against a slow plodding flat footed fighter in his last fight?
Fury is much better than given credit for. People laughed when I picked him to beat both Klitsckos about 3-4 years ago.
This is one of those threads were fans of a certain fighter put the guy who beat their fighter vs an ATG because then it makes their man look slightly better. Cough cough Klitsckos.
You have to favor Louis, this fight is by no means the bag for him. Much is still unknown about Fury. He beat an older and seemingly less than interested Wlad Klitschko. I think Wlad ( age 40 ) wins the re-match. It's not like Fury has faced Povetkin, Joshua, Haye, or Pulev. When he's in shape, Fury is a mobile huge fighter with an 85" reach. Listed at 6'9" tall ( I think he's more like 6'8" tall ) Louis would need to get in real close to land. The trouble is Louis had slow and shuffling type of feet and needed then set to land. Fury, who has good stamina when in shape can play tag and keep away, taking points win. I think Fury hits hard enough to stun or floor Louis, but likley not hard enough to stop him. There appears to be nothing wrong with Fury's heart, but I still think his chin is average and Louis would eventually land something serious to test it. However, a Fury points win, based on how they match up and how their styles would make the fight is not out of the question. Fury is not a big / immobile type like Abe Simon or Buddy Bear was. He actually has better skills, reach, and far more mobility. The good boxer types who moved well like Walcott or Conn gave Joe lots of problems. Fury, using his gargantuan advantage in height and reach who moves very well for his size could do the same. If Fury proves to be durable, the game changes. I tend to think he's got nothing more than an average chin.
Look at how pathetic this is by modern standards. No head movement, both guys have their feet planted on the floor and move minimally basically just standing in front of each other like rookies. The pace is so slow so it's no wonder why those guys were able to box as many rounds as they did. The stiff Joe Louis throws the lazies slowest most telegraphed jab and gets countered. No feints nothing, just trying to parry and counter. Now watch the master Tyson Fury at work: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qlC6d1YC3vA/Vl39vuLnMgI/AAAAAAAABsw/ouq3thQc2Qs/s1600/1.gif http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nSLqjxYRk8U/Vl39ikV60EI/AAAAAAAABsk/6rjB55I2ROU/s1600/3.gif I don't even want to imagine what Fury would have done to a LHW like Louis.
if Tyson waited until someone who was relatively weak h2h turned 38, then I cant see him facing a prime joe.
While I agree Louis has quite a few flaws on defense, and with his footwork / footwork speed, you can't deny he has all time power, well at least with the lighter gloves they used in his day and was a very good finisher. If you watch the 2nd Walcott or 1st Conn matches, they are out boxing Louis, then he catches them later in the fight. If the Conn match was 12 rounds he wins. If he didn't go for the KO in the 13th, Conn likely wins. In the first Walcott fight, Walcott deserved to win it based on the surviving films, and those who scored it at ringside by a clear margin for Walcott. You could say the boxer beat a puncher more often than not, and that's usually true in the lower weights. At heavyweight, this usually true, except when the boxer lacks a good chin. Multiply this a bit if you have a good like Fury in there who just might take a chance or two on doing something unwise. I'd favor Louis, but a Fury win is not that much of an upset based on styles, and how they match up.
I dont want to be mean to you here, but you are pretty clueless. You dont know basic information such as Louiss size, since you describe him as a LHW. You either havent seen much film of him, or dont know what you are looking at, because you make absurd comments like he didnt have a jab. In short your knowledge of the subject, is not sufficient for you to put forward a confident opinion one way or the other, much less criticise other people for their opinion!
Hey Janitor, I think Slav must either be joking with you or just trolling. How else could he possibly explain the phrase "now watch the master" when referring to Tyson Fury? Too preposterous for reasonable debate.
