Hey, here's an idea.. What does everyone say that we start a thread entitled Vitali Klitschko vs Joe Louis Part II ?
Buddy Bear was not that talented, yet he almost beat Joe Louis. Baer knocked Joe Louis out of the ring. A miracle happened when Louis who had his back to the ropes was caught by a punch from Buddy Bear. The momentum of the punch flipped Louis body over the ropes in a somersault fashion. Somehow, Louis ended up landing on the outside of the ring on his feet instead of his head, or falling down to the floor outside the ring. Buddy was no where near Vitali's skill level.
mendoza how many of vitali's opponents since the lewis fight would beat or outclass buddy. asking you mendoza as i have not seen any of buddy's fights other than than with louis .cant really see any of them giving him a beating though as they are all pretty weak themselves
Rubbish. 4:40 - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNYTX8jLebE[/ame] Louis has his left hand on the rope througout his tumble. Throughout the entire duration of his fall he is poised over the ring apron, in no danger of tumbling to the floor of the arena, or doing himself any lasting damage. He did not "land on his feet". The miracle here would have been if Louis had receieved an injury. Buddy Baer did not "almostbeat Joe Louis", he was not saved by any "miracle". What would possess you to make such claims?
Addionally, that can in no way be described as a "somersault", given the way he is able to brace himself, I would hesitate to even call it a breakfall.
Ahhhh the beauty of the Classic Forum. If you're gonna talk **** or spread lies chances are you'll get caught out pronto.
(1) i am not louis' detractor (2) claiming louis was smaller is respecting him if anything. (3) and his reach was 74" (4) and he would have still lost to both vitali and tua. (5) and what a bad joke it is to claim farr had a reach LONGER THAN HEARNS AND EQUAL TO VITALY's - your source
I just watched Vitali's fight with Gomez, which was one I missed. Not terribly impressed, to be perfectly honest.
You say you're not a detractor, but you keep insisting his reach is shorter than it is despite the fact that you have no source (apart from a corrected one which now agrees with most of the contrary sources) and have been presented with multiple sources to the contrary.
Ring magazine of June 1936 provided a detailed tale of the tape for both Louis and Schmeling on the eve of their first bout. They listed Louis's reach as 76''. This is as close to a primary source as you will get. This content is protected
