I don't really care about the reality of the situation one way or anyother- Joe Louis Ko 1! I will sight the Buddy Baer rematch, but don't bother arguing agaisnt it because I am not listening.

I cheer for Vitali, but it Joe F---ing Louis.

My first thought was Louis would destroy him, but VK is huge, awkward and I'm am not sure I have ever seen the guy really hurt in a fight.

That being said this is Louis we are talking about, I have Louis comfortably at the top of my all time Heavyweight rankings.

So why then am I puzzling over this fight? My gut tells me that Louis will win by a late KO, as Louis him self used to say "your can run but you can't hide" and although I don't expect VK to run I do expect him to play the counter puncher and try to chop Louis down from the outside at a safe distance.

So I will pick Louis by a KO-TKO11.

But I do fell as though Louis will have to whether some scary moments in the fight, but I still see him winning it.

I think some thought Vitali was un-hittable until we saw what an Old Lennox Lewis did did to his face.

True, Lewis is bigger than Joe but Lewis isn't nearly as fast, nearly as technically, nearly as fluid/sharp and accurate with his punches. And it's much harder to see Louis's punches coming because he throws those very short, accurate, sharp, timed punches than Lewis's long reach bombs.

Plus, Louis actually had a great Jab. That seems to get lost in the discussion with him sometimes because they just remember his combos and those shots that he pulls back with and unloads. You know those shots where he had guys spinning around before they hit the floor.

People should remember Pre-War World II Louis more so than the one that came after.

You could also add in what he did to Max

Some people also just think of him as a pure boxer, but he was devastating as a "fighter." If you challenged him, WOW, he would turn on another switch and go all out and he would get the better of you because he was faster, sharper, more accurate, and threw in devastating combinations.

Louis in rematches is also incredible to watch.

Are you seriously comparing V. Klitschko to Carnera? Carnera was strong, sturdy and awkward but he couldn't hold Vitali's jock on his best day. Remember that Vitali is huge, strong, an excellent athlete and a good combination puncher while Carnera was just huge and strong. My point is that he would be a much more difficult target than Carnera because of his underrated footwork and punch output. Louis would need to work extremely hard to land anything of subtance on someone who would be just out of range most of the time because of...again...his size, athleticism and activity level. Louis' plodding, patient style would simply make him too inviting of a target for a puncher of V. Klitshko's calibre. Throw in Klit's conditioning and you've got an upset that everyone should have seen coming. Klit TKO10.

    Joe Louis by ko.

I like Vitali and reconize he is a fantastic boxer, but joe louis lands his right hand or left hook on him and vitali does not recover. Vitali is well known to play the hands down game, that can work against today's slow overweight heavies like Arreola, but louis will land bombs and a giant will fall.

Louis had speed, power and throws in combinations, vitali's jab would not keep "the Brown Bomber" off "Dr. Ironfist" and louis closes the distance and batters vitali. This is why louis is considered the best heavyweight by so many out of a lot of great fighters.

By the way louis did have fast feet in his younger days, and even if this took place a few years after louis's prime klitchko is no slickster like walcott.

Louis by knockout in about the same length of time it took Lewis

Vit has an incredible chin so he would really ship a heck of a lot of crushing shots from Big Joe but he would look like an amateur in there against one of the great boxers/combinations punchers/finishers boxing has ever had - Vit would maybe be too brave for his own good and may have to be saved by the referee I'd say no later than the 7th

?...Do you challenge the fact that Vitali Klitschko is a superior combination puncher than Carnera? I don't really think there's much debate there. Also, is there some issue with my refering to Louis' style as "plodding"? How else would you describe it? Look, Joe Louis is a bona fide top 3 atg HW and a top 10 atg p4p but styles make fights. Shuffling around and controlling distance will not lead to victory against someone 5" taller, with a 4" reach advantage and a power/conditioning advantage...:think

I think he was refering to the fact you said good combo puncher, vitali can throw combos yes, but he does not excel at it. usually he sticks to 1 or 2 punches at a time. besides if he unloads with combos him being the slower of the two its only going to make it easier for louis to land. watch the max baer fight louis could move when he needed to. vitali is going down:deal

ps the prime Louis was not a plodder whatsoever - you really have no clue if you think Louis at his peak was a plodder - he was much faster than Klit - much faster - if you wanna go back and check the films - have a look at Joe against Max Baer, Jack Sharkey, Lee Ramage etc etc - if you think Louis is a plodder after that I'll just tell you you're deluded
