Stribling was a very good fighter, though a small heavyweight. I think that he would fight well against Louis, until Joe started to land his heavy punches. I think that Stribling was a better all-around fighter than Bob Pastor, Tony Galento, Jack Roper, Gus Dorazio and a few other fighters that got title fights. Still, I think that Louis wins. I agree Stribling was a very good fighter,my point was that his punch is overated on the basis of the amount of kos he ammased,if you take the time to look at his record you will see most of them were over third raters,he toured the hick towns ,where he would challenge all comers ,his chauffeur would step up to the plate get kod and they would move on to the next town,as his driver foughtunder various different names ,its hard to quantify how many times Stribling pulled this stunt,you have to look at the record and sift the wheat from the chaff so to speak,there are some very colourful names among his victims. Stribling was a brave fighter,he took a hiding from Schmeling,before being kod,but his power ,and possibly his durability are overated ,imo,he only met one real hitter ,and he was knocked out,Mendoza states that Stribling had a better chin than Tommy Farr,I would dispute that as Farr met Joe Louis and Max Baer twice ,both better punchers than Schmeling ,and neither kod him.
Please explian why Farr was knocked out by 4 no-names, and not one no-name KO'd Stribling. Stribling has one KO loss in many fights, and it took Schmeling in his prime 15 rounds to do it.
