Yeah, when i first read the word slugger in your post for some reason I associated the term with being attritional, more like a brawler. It wasn't until in my follow up post when I described Foreman as swinging from the hips, that the penny dropped and I realised the term slugger originates from a baseball player doing exactly that. So I retract my challenge of you describing Foreman as a slugger and apologise.

I standby my challenge that a Boxer Puncher is Foreman's worst nightmare. A pure boxer, mover is his krptonite imo. Whilst I accept less so in his 1st career, it would still be the most difficult style for him to face, imo.

Im my view Joe is a Boxer-Puncher and this style is at the top of the pyramid of all styles. This is also the most unpredictable style of all styles because of their versatility being able to adapt ,switch styles and mix it up.
Either Joe beats Foreman at his own game or switches it up and beats him else where. Joe has this advantage.
If Foreman gets his hybrid out/puncher + Slugger style shut down he has nothing to fall back on and ultimately loses

Flash24 is right on, in my opinion. Louis is 5x the offensive fighter that Foreman was but given Joe's flatfootedness and average defensive skills, Foreman would manhandle him. Foreman with his chin could definitely take Joe's punches (at least for a few rounds) but I don't think Louis can take Big George's. Foreman via KO in the early-to-mid rounds.

Foreman by KO. George was big man who could also punch like hell. I think Louis is a smaller heavy who is too slow on his feet and his chin won't take what George hits him with. I trust Foreman's chin over Joe's in a shootout.

The idea that Louis is too flatfooted is more than a little stupid. People confuse skipping around the ring with effective footwork. If you watch the Baer fight, Louis certainly could move well enough to do what he needed to do against Foreman. He wouldn't need to move a lot- which would certainly be futile against the man who defines ring cutting skill- and he wouldn't because Louis would want to be close enough to land his own punches. But boxing is a game of inches and angles and Louis was the more savvy and sophisticated boxer.
Foreman was a guy that could punch but he was a tense guy, and he punched by swinging his arms. These things contributed to his lack of stamina. At close range Louis is going to punch inside of Foreman with those textbook combinations and tear him apart. He will step inside his effective range and rip him apart.
The tone of this fight will be dictated by who controls the jab, which was an integral part of the Louis game and Foreman as well. In the Norton fight George was stopping Kenny's jab before it got started and this enabled him to get right on top of him. Louis relied on his jab, but he ain't no Ken Norton. When Foreman gets close to Louis and starts swinging his arms, he will get lit up with short hard punches.
Foreman has a huge disadvantage in his lack of experience; by the time he fought Ali he had maybe 120 rounds of boxing, amatuer and pro. And he was notorious for not listening to trainers and not knowing how to fight. He was a big strong guy and relied on that but, when Ali pulled his head down, the big strong guy didn't know how to knock his arm off. He didn't know how to fight.
Louis, on the other hand, listened to Blackburn and did as he was told.
