    Some of you have to ask yourselves why Baker, Nino, and Williams didn’t “destroy” the 50s competition. All decent fighters in their own right skill wise. And by your estimation should have steamrolled those little guys. Yet couldn’t even earn a title shot in the 50s.

    Common dude you’re smarter than this... Walcott lost a lot of his early fights because he had limited amateur experience, poor management and worked a full time job while boxing. When things started coming together later in his career he started winning more frequently and going head to head with ATG’s. I totally get the whole “ modern athlete beats classic athlete “ thing, But Joe Messi isn’t walking into any era and dominating. He was a high end club fighter who barely topped out at fringe level.

    Right, I he fought often, poorly trained, & sometimes hungry.
    Messi did not need to deal with any of that.
