Should be a fun scrap. Smith should win this by stoppage.

 

I thought Smith had a mandatory after he got a close ud win over vlasov

can he just ignore his mandatory like this?

 

JSJ and Vlasov were the no1 and 2 ranked fighters when they fought for the vacant title.

I don't think he will have to fight a mandatory for a while. At any rate Arthur, the no1 ranked fighter currently, fights Yarde next month.

 

Solid matchup! Nearly guaranteed it ends in a knockout. I favor Smith jr but Johnson can bang.

Jan 15 is my birthday. and this fight is like a birthday present to me. this is the PERFECT fight. if Joe Smith can knock out Johnson then he is for sure ready for Beterbiev.

Johnson is just as strong as beterbiev. he doesn't have the same skill set but he's the closest person to beterbiev that's ranked.
I don't know what I see, I wouldn't be surprised with a knock out either way. But, Johnson is boxings best kept secret.

It's just I'd rather see Smith vs Beterbiev.

Smith will most likely win, then fight some mandatory after.

Beterbiev isn't getting his big pay day for a while.

I’m leaning towards smith jr purely because I think Johnson has had surgery and been inactive

 

I'm a Joe fan so I'm biased ,but trying to be objective Smith should stop him after some fireworks. Can't see it going very long as Callum I think is somewhat past it.
