Joe turns down Pavlik Joe will fight Jones!!!!

Pavlik brings his OH up against Cal's OH. Doesn't get much better than that. Two champions. Unless AA does someting radically different in his upcoming fight against Miranda, I don't see him as much of a threat to Pavlik. Well, I do expect to see something different from him. His OH will GO. If that happens, not much left for Kelly at MW. Joe said he would return to SMW for Kelly. Put up or shut up Joe.

Well, Mr. 168 called out Mr. 160 the day after Mr. 160 won his first title. And several times since. He went silent about Pavlik after the Hopkins fight. People said it was out of his loyalty to Lockett. He couldn't call Pavlik because that would be an admission that he though Lockett would get beat.

But honestly, looking back I think we know why Joe didn't even come to the Pavlik/Lockett contest. He had already watched enough films with dad to know he didn't want this fight.:deal

Calzaghe - Pavlik would be a great fight but I cant see Pavlik winning. Pavlik is an uber strong middleweight who does nothing special but everything well. Against a light-heayweight he wont be able to overpower people, and in terms of pure boxing skill he's not in the same class as Calzaghe. Pavlik will lose.

Roy Jones on the other hand is the most naturally talented fighter in history. Fighting jones is a much bigger risk because if Jones comes to fight and is a mere 10% of what he used to be he will win. Its a risky fight because it depends on how shot Jones is. If Jones is completely gone Calzaghe might just win, if Jones has anything at all left in the tank he will win by KO.

Thats what I call a risk.

I seen on ESPN that Joe stands to make 20m fighting Roy Jones ... I don't think he's ducking Kelly ... this man has fought over 40 fights and over 20 title defense and now 2 division linear titles.

I think that Joe is looking to fight guys that are more on his level experience wise and looking to cash in.

Not many people would give Pav a chance, considering that he just made his first title defense and has only 2 championship fights under his belt. Kels would have to build himself up ... maybe get a unification bout in there with some signature wins over quality opposition.

I'm in favor of watch the Jones v Calzaghe fight - even if it happens in Whales because I think that Jones has the type of style to beat Calzaghe and possibly knock him out.

i'm somewhat disappointed - i think he could beat both jones and pavlik - and then there really would not be anyone at all left for him.

people may say dawson but what has he done? nothing other than go life and death with a 39 year old and badly hurt whenever johnson caught him.

i think calzaghe should take out pavlik now - then finish against jones in wales.

two more fights - still undefeated, he's had a great career and will be an ATG/HOF lock.

he is anyway - but they would be the icing on his cake.

i do not want to see JC vs RJJ now due to both being on the slide for a while and RJJ is really shot.

i wanted the pavlik fight to happen as we would have seen a fighter who had been on the slide for 3 years up against a fighter in his prime.

prime for prime JC would KILL pavlik

 

Prime for prime comparisons do not work at this point in time. Kelly is most like 4 or 5 big fights away from peaking.

This opens the door for Pavlik vs. Abraham, a fight that is more intriguing to me :yep
