And we are talking prime for prime here right? So a 5'10½ with 74" reach (looked it up) bar brawler, with pre-1900's technique who mostly fought bums (who he wasn't even able to KO all without gloves) and lost his only 'gloved' fight wil beat the crap out of a 6'7½ with 80" reach pre-injury Vitali who has a 100% KO ratio with gloves, and an almost perfect use of his length advantage what only one man (Lewis) could overcome until now? I think it it would take Vitali 5 rounds max, giving Sullivan probably had a very good chin.
And? Look at how many punches Wlad throws. He throws, clinches, then throws. He doesn't throw that many either. I still think its impressive that they could go like that for 20 rounds or more. just look at tunney vs dempsey. that was at a really high pace that none of the heavyweights today could manage. :tong
Sullivan had three bareknuckle fights, and over a hundred with gloves. I would say that makes him predominantly a gloved fighter wouldnt you?
Yep, they went 21 rounds before Corbett KO'd Sullivan... Did you know that Corbett's record was 12-0-2-4 with This content is protected KO's at the time? Safely to say he was featherfisted, but probably had a lot more technical ability or better conditioning (he went 61 rounds with Jackson) to show for it wich gave him the win. Do you guys also know Sullivan liked to lick men in a bar?
haha, well i disagree. tunney dempsey both fights were at a reasonable pace. good, but hardly blistering. wlad does throw and clinch and throw...and still manages to triple the output of the johnson era. clinching wears you down to and they did a lot of wrestling back in the day but 20 rounds at that rate doesn't impress me. 15 rounds at holyfield qwai rate...THAT impresses me
stupid noob, you just did a glance over on the wiki of boxing and found out about Sullivan. They didnt throw nearly as many punches at the pace and intensity that they do now.
I happen to think Vitali would toy with and overpower him, but at least get the facts right. Stamina would NOT be a problem for a PRIME Sullivan, who was routinely used to going 20-25 timed 3 minute rounds or more in gloved boxing. It is a myth that the prime Sullivan was a purely bareknuckle fighter. He did both. Oh, and Sullivan was far more than a "barroom brawler." He WAS that, at times - but he was also a skilled professional fighter, i.e. a person who boxed for pay, as his profession. You might want to read up on him before you dismiss him. fyi guys im just joking around, vitali would kill sullivan. unless it was bareknuckled. so shut the **** up
