I despise the man's style and am far from a fan, but I have respect for him. Whether he deserved some of the shots he got, he put himself in against a good amount of top fighters, and considering his talent level, did quite well for himself.

I too am a John Ruiz fan. He never did anything but get in the ring and fight to his best ability. One of the few guys who could go 12 rounds every fight.

For a guy with only a moderate punch, moderate speed, and moderate skill, he did very well for himself. I hope he gets one more shot, personally.

I also know that I've never had to question whether Ruiz's next fight would be against a hard opponent. His resume is a who's who of the division over the last decade.

"...Not as powerful as Cotto" And that's coming from a fan :think:rofl

I am a fan of Lennox so that would be like for me to say "he's good and all but he's not as powerful as Pacquiao !" :rofl

If your favorite boxer happens to be a heavyweight then the least thing you can do for him is to compare him to other heavyweights..

I´m not a fan of Ruiz! but i like your attitude, you stick to your favorite fighter, even though his one of the most hated fighters by others! good that he have people that support him!

Other "fans" just jumps on the bandwagon, when a new exciting hardhitting boxer comes around, and praise him like the next big star.. but then diss him when he lose his 0! :-(

Ruiz is underated in my book. Because of his style he does not get the respect he deserve. Yes he holds. But so those a lot of fighters. Read the stratagy people have for Hatton vs Pac, "he should wrestle him inside". If Cotto would have used that style for at least 3 or 4 rounds in his fight with marg, he would have won.
