was reading the thread about steven smith finding his level and billy nelson and daviddee1983 have been speaking about this fight and a possible outcome. billy asked for a poll to see the views so here it is. vote for your winner and a reason for the outcome would be good. ive voted for the underdog. ronnie 'the shark' clark. on points. as much as i have loved watching john simpson over the years i fear that after the beatings from john murray and tommy coyle at lighweight might have just finished off simpson at the top level. also i know for a fact that john likes to drink and party and doesnt always live the life. you know this too billy!! ive seen ronnie about 5 times and he might not be to everyones taste but right now i think his hunger to acheive something and he trains very hard. i dont think he would stop john but ronnie looks big at the weight and john claims he could make feather (i doubt he could) so he might struggle in the later rounds to hold him off. lets hear your thoughts!! john simpson, the warrior who has been there and done it or ronnie 'the shark' clark, ex kickboxer who hasnt yet beat a top domestic fighter but wants to fight anyone.
My opinion is Ronnie on points people may think my opinion doesn't count. John is my 2nd favourite Scottish fighter I supported him way before my brother even thought about boxing. The fight matches up well for Ronnie both agressive but Ronnie is huge for the weight and has a good chin I would expect Ronnie pts or late stoppage of over 12 rounds
Hi Billy, have to disagree here. Ronnie is big for Super Feather I am with him training all the time and have other boxers and he does the weight right and imo he could easily box at Lightweight but wouldn't be as big at that weight. The Lee Selby thing is also misleading, imo Lee hasn't looked as good over his last 5 fights. He doesn't seem as dynamic, strong or punch as hard and that could be down to him stripping his body down to make an unnatural weight at Feather. I hope he wins against Gradovich but a move up in weight is very close for Lee. On the Ronnie vs John Simpson, I find it hard to ever write off John but as the opening post has stated we don't know how much has been taken out of John in his fights at Lightweight. John has been in exciting wars for 10 years since he went down and boxed Dazzo Williams but wars none the less. Ronnie in boxing terms is very fresh, hasn't been in loads of wars, is a big Super Feather and can be awkward to box when he uses his boxing skills. I'm not saying Ronnie could beat every Super Feather in Britain but they would have to be on their A game and I would like for some of them to take them to take the chance on him wether it's at home or not. Until we see how John does after the 2 beatings he took at Lightweight then imo Ronnie could outbox him to a points decision. But I don't see it happening until John decides what weight he will definitely be boxing at Feather or Super Feather.
