mcvey, None what so ever ! The Jeannette that Johnson beat obviously improved with experience, I think Johnson improved as well. Winning the title would have given him more confidence. This content is protected This content is protected I gave Dempsey 1234 an opportunity to put his case and also answer 4 questions This content is protected This content is protected I posed to find some common ground , he turned it into a childish barrage of insults,It's of no consequence. This content is protected This content is protected My take on Joe Jeannette is that he was a world class operator for about a decade. He was one of the top 4 black heavyweights of the early 1900's the others being Langford,McVey,and Johnson. Later to be joined by Wills He had superlative powers of recuperation perhaps there were no-one better, stamina, tremendous courage ,and good all-round skills. He has a fine record, and there was no scandal ever attached to his name. I do not believe he was either Johnson's,or Langford's equal in real terms if they were in their respective primes. These are your opinions and you're entitled to them This content is protected and, when others say he was, I believe them to be slightly overating him . When I expressed that view ,[that he was," slightly overated ," ] the "circus came to town."and I was accused of cherry picking reports ,having an agenda to promote Jack Johnson,[at the expense of Jeannette], trying to imply that Johnson's wins over Jeannette were major victories,[ though none of my posts ever suggested that .] This content is protected This content is protected For the record Jack Johnson's style bores the p*ss out of me, I'm a Jack Dempsey fan,I like an attacking fighter! Apparently now I'm a cheese eating , You said you like cheese maybe you forgot already. fatboy ,who retreats into ratholes , and a senile old fart, into the bargain. This content is protected This from just expressing my personal opinion and of course I'm only a boxing fan and certainly no expert. No matter , in the real scheme of events in our lives, it is so minute in terms of importance as to be invisible. This content is protected
I've never been a victim here unless you count being bored by you. Picking on me ? You couldn't pick your nose ! You originally stated, when you began your misdirected crusade that Johnson's wins over Jeannette were not major wins, though you said I tried to imply they were. Now you say they were! You're a little confused aren't you! If you keep on in this vein you will end up sectioned. I welcome reasoned debate and enjoy it from many posters. Your abject efforts to gain some credibility here are blown out of the water with the puerile content that you post. Do yourself a favour and re -read these cro-magnon daubings, they resemble nothing so much as those of a 4 year old with learning disabilities. I honestly believe you have mental health issues, but hey,it's your thread, so who gives a sh*t? I won't make another thread here, there's simply no point whilst the lunatics are running the asylum.

Haha stop you are wrong,WRONG, WRONG, now to show everybody that you are really are the innocent one you post twice. I havent read your twice posted post even once. Prove to everybody who the sick puppy is.
Simply cos it's filled with your whining nonsense, why should I read that? Here's a another one for you, "you're not the sharpest tool in the shed, I give you permission to use it against me. Despite everything you have called me cos we're friends I will give you the courtesy to respond in someway to your constant whining about me and how dumb I am.
This must be a sign of the End of Days but I agree with McVey that Johnson's fighting style was boring. Andre Ward must have watched a lot of Johnson footage because his grab and hold style matches Johnson's very closely.
Oh yes, he's boring too I was rooting for Kovalev last time, and will be this time. I like a Louis, a Dempsey,a guy who comes to fight and instigates the action !
This content is protected Philadelphia Inquirer May 10, 1905 JACK JOHNSON CAUGHT A TARTAR IN ONE BUT A MARK IN THE OTHER The double stunt tried by Jack Johnson, colored heavyweight champion of the world, in meeting two men for three rounds each in the wind-up at the Knickerbocker Athletic Club last night proved to be more of a surprise than the champion was looking for. Joe Jeanette, of New York, went on first, and although greatly handicapped in weight and height and eclipsed in experience, he gave Johnson as hard a three-round reception that the latter has run across while in this city. Jeanette not only held his own, but actually forced the milling in two of the rounds. He repeatedly got home to Johnson’s body and face with a good left jab and landed a few right hand wallops which caused the crowd to yell its approval. Jeanette was not any too Gallus, however, by his success and he invariably cleverly covered up whenever the big fellow came rushing in after being stung by some of Joe’s punches. Johnson seemed unable to get to Jeanette with any of his blows effectively, although the New Yorker took the count more than once to gather his wits about him when the milling got a bit warm. Johnson did not seem to try very hard in the first round, but after Jeanette had made himself solid with the crowd Johnson sailed in for the second round like a hurricane. For a time things went badly for Joe, but before the round was over he was giving just as good as he received. The third he easily held his own, despite Johnson’s desperate efforts to land the “ender” punch. The crowd went wild when the bell ended the bout with Jeanette fighting Johnson savagely. Walter Johnson then essayed to go the same distance, but a clip on the jaw just as the men had shaken hands in the third round settled that bout.
Wow, I see this topic has been thoroughly covered here and just like my thread, McVey refuses to answer some direct questions and just keeps repeating his Pollack source. Nothing against Pollack, he a great boxing writer and historian and I own several of his books. But McVey will quote an anonymous news article from 120 years ago as his "primary source", while stating "some reporter at ringside said"...really, what was his name? What was the name of the man who weighed the fighters on those days? Lets see how far we can drill down into the minutia of each fight. He wants presses everyone on the weight of Jeannette in the last fight with Johnson, where Jeannette said he was 165 or 162, coming down from a supposed 185 in their prior fight. Yet, he wants us to believe that Johnson was only 185 for McVey in April of 1906 and packed on 20 pounds of muscle in just five months for his last fight against Jeannette in November of 1906. Must have been some magical PEDs back in 1906, LOL. As usual McVey ended his comments here claiming to be the victim because he refused or couldn't answer direct questions and couldn't get posters to bend to his will.
I'll make one post here ,Im very satisfied with these posts of mine. The man who was arguing against me has been banned and later contacted me and invited me to join his forum I lasted about a day. He hero worships Jeannette and, like you hates Johnson. I sincerely believe he is unhinged on the subject. Now you've resurrected an 8years old thread so you can dump on Johnson some more. Go ahead fill your boots! Dead horse flogging? I'm out!
Jeannette seems to have been one of those extremely tough guys. He was knocked down but the guy just had some combination of insane recooperative powers and super human durability. Plus he could fight.
Let’s get ready to RUMBLE!!! Dr Z (allegedly) Mendoza (allegedly) Bronson… I’ll coach you, you @ me and I’ll work your corner. Not everyday I get to meet such a legendary poster but I’m here for your comeback. This content is protected
You've also been banned here a time or two, so has your alt accounts. Your BS account also banned. You seem to like to make a big fuss of people being banned while you and your alt accounts have also been banned. Throwing stones in glass houses. You ducked Dempsey1234's questions on here. You insist you know the weight of Jeannette in his last fight with Johnson and that he lied about it. But you also believe that Johnson weighed 185 against Langford but packed on 20 pounds of muscle in just five months when he fought Jeannette? Tell us who weighed Langford, Jeannette, Johnson in all those fights? What were their names. You must have some anonymous news clippings somewhere in your archives. I'm certain the managers, promoters and members of the press were all honest and could never have made an error. Is that what you believe? You always say you're out, but you'll be back.
