50% coke, 50% cheap red wine . We used to drink liters of that **** on the streets at towns festivals. My stomach is not what it used to be 20 years ago
No change in position, still holding steady at #16 in the WBC rankings as of the New Year's updates. (ie nobody has leapfrogged him, nor sunk past him) It'll probably take more than beating La Boa to climb past Guillame Frenois (currently the Euro champ, at #15, had a busy 2017 with a nice pair of title defenses over Gusev and Encarnacion) but a start, at least.
Looks like he is not fighting "La Boa". I don't know if they are going to find a replacement for 7th February... and the guy last fight was in September. I understand it's hard to raise a fighter without a potential fanbase in the US (not polish, irish, mexican, rican...) but it is annoying.
Well, he was briefly in the Miguel Berchelt sweepstakes (after Cristian Mijares pulled out) but it didn't pan out. The Scorpion will be defending his title against Maxwell Awuku (who in turn is replacing the original substitute, Carlos Magali). Jonfer, meanwhile, is taking on Beninese southpaw road warrior Fatio Fassinou, 28-8-3 (15), in NYC in a hastily thrown-together short notice affair on a Lou DiBella show this Wednesday, extending Fernández's streak of alternating his fights between Spain and the US to now eight in a row.
In somewhat tangential news, Fernández's old rival Alexander Podolsky fought last Friday. He picked up his first ever KO1 (fourth career stoppage) versus Anzor Gamgebeli of Georgia. Podolsky took him out in under 90 seconds, which is the fastest anybody has ever disposed of Gamgebeli (and that includes Richard Commey, Jean Pierre Bauwence, Kyril Relikh, Sandor Martin, Bradley Skeete, and even Jonfer himself - althought Fernández did also KO1 him)
A fight against Berchelt would have been too early for the kid... You can ruin the boy confidence throwing him to the lions too early. After "la Boa" pulled out of the fight they were talking about mexican Jairo Ochoa, but it finally has been Fatio Fassinou. I've not seen him fighting, but hope they will mix in a good fight.
Hope I will be able to find the video tomorrow. Too late to watch the fight live at Spain on a working day :-D
Jonfer fight is off because Fatio Fassinou has herpes. Source (spanish): https://www.espabox.com/combate-jonfer-estaba-gafado-se-anula-la-pelea-herpes-fassinou/
Well, just two weeks later Mr. Herpes is fighting tonight in Dallas, TX. Jonfer still left hung out to dry, five months running now with nothing scheduled...
Damn I feel bad for the guy. Travels to the US (long ride from here) to get the fight cancelled the day before. Hope he gets a fight soon. The boy should be fighting at least 4-5 times a year at this point and this innactivity is not good.
Damn, he made quick work of poor Aristides a few weeks ago, it's a pity he couldn't have done that to Oh'Shacky. This content is protected
