Jon Lewis Dickinson vs. David Dolan RBR

Round 5

Dickinson is trading left hooks with Dolan at mid-range, both slapping out of their guard and willing to receive in order to give. Combos by Dickinson, as though rubbing on a marinade. Dolan scores a few nice ones dropped in to the body and has opened a cut on Dickinson's eye, but is still getting hit the most by Dickinson's left hook across the scalp in the exchanges.

It would've been a nice undercard to see, too. Half a dozen unbeaten prospects.

Instead all the live action we're left with is a paltry 2/3 of the main event.

 

Round 6

Dickinson is holding more, flopping into Dolan and shouldering him to the ropes. Dolan now getting his share of the left hooks upstairs. Dolan works the body and slaps a right hand over the top like a wet rope. Lots of wrestling, mostly initiated by Dickinson. Flush left hook upon separation by Dickinson, pulling back a bit to land it and then flopping down once more. Dolan spreads his legs to keep his balance while tossing in straights until the bell.

Well the channel is based on a magazine that mainly consists of girls tits (which is fantastic) problem is that usually doesn't bode well for good coverage on sports such as boxing. :-(

 

Round 7

Dickinson is diving and hugging. Dolan dumps his fists down at the back of Dickinson's head. Nice combination work by Dolan now, gaining the upper hand on the inside with uppers and straights piled atop the lead-off hooks. Dickinson is holding more than punching.

they fight and stance up so similarly it's pretty hilarious.

 

Round 8

Dolan is staggered by jabs and wide machete slashes with the right. Dickinson keeps pouring it on, tired and not punching with much authority but looking to drown Dolan in leather. Dolan puts his head down and tries to grind in and hold, the roles now reversed. Dickinson keeps blasting away with the 1-2 and slaps behind the ears. Dolan down from accumulation! Dickinson is throwing nonstop as Dolan trudges in through his slowly churning gloves and repeatedly snatches him up around the waist. Dickinson lifts up his left arm above the shoulder and slaps down with a hook as Dolan ducks into him.

Round 9

Dickinson is ambling left to right in an odd hunchbacked gait. Dolan wearily turns and faces up to him, then reaches out to hold after blocking some jabs. Rabbit punch by Dolan as they collide in slow motion. Both are knackered. Lots of holding, flailing, missing. Dickinson backs out of the pocket and dips at the knees, torquing up with a well-placed right uppercut. Maybe the only decently thrown punch of the round, technically speaking.

One of the commentators - retired former British/Commonwealth/Euro champ Jamie Moore - had Dickinson up by 1 at the halfway mark. (having just given Dolan the 6th as I did, and the preceding two for Dickinson as I did...not sure how they broke down in the first three)

 

Through 9, Moore has it 88-84 to Dickinson. He must've had one level.

 

Round 10

Dickinson is pushed back as Dolan ramps up his productivity, laboring to string hooks and uppercuts together. Virtually endless holding by Dickinson. He is warned sternly for holding and pushing by the ref. More uppercuts on the inside by Dolan, mostly grazing Dickinson's chest.

This isn't exactly proving to have been worth the wait.

 

Moore says Dolan needs a KO.

 

Round 11

Dolan has a 90° angle right hand intercepted on the arms of Dickinson, and slaps a left hook around them. Dickinson is tying up and especially wrenching on the right arm of Dolan to keep it out of play. Dickinson steps back and throws a 1-2 but gets smacked into reverse by a few overhands from Dolan. Dickinson catches Dolan's right arm in midair and pushes it up overhead as their foreheads bump together. The ref is trying to stay close and keep things orderly. Lots of wrestling. Double left hook by Dolan, going from body to head. Dickinson lands a short double pop to the face, just flicking both wrists out of his guard without fully extending. More wrestling. 1-2 by Dickinson blocked. Slapping hook atop the head by Dolan.
