I remember this. How anyone can say Roy ducked Hopkins, is an absolute disgrace. The fact is Hopkins needed the rematch to avenge the only clear loss he had at the time, for his legacy, and he priced himself out.

Add to that him reneging on a deal to fight a prime Calzaghe and you begin to see good form in his ducking. He never wanted to fight guys who were as big and faster than him. No-coincidence his greatest wins came against smaller guys fighting outside of their best divisions.

I'm not bagging him as a great fighter, he obviously is, an ATG even.. but considering the hate and criticism guys like Calzaghe and Jones get for supposedly ducking him, the truth needs to be pointed out.

I may be wrong, but I thought the fight was off because of the Green knockout. Then Hopkins tried to fight Green. That fell through and he went back to Jones.

    :rofl

    I love these 2!

Styles makes fights, Bernard usually fights at a slow pace, if he does its to Roys advantage. 2 things trouble RJJ the most, power and workrate..Bernard lacks both of them. Not sure how cracked RJJ's chin is though, Bernard may be able to stop him too.

Damm, if RJJ didnt loose his last fight, this could have really sold.

i can list you 100s of pathetic champions there have been

the fact you listed ruiz pretty much says it all by roy jones

i would say 6 wins in his what 55-60 fight career were real top guys? rest were cherry picked

good fighters at max who may have gone to win a world title but never at the top level and the american public knew it but let jones cherry pick his way to millions

the fact he fought police men and teachers as well as the other part time fighters suggests all there is of roy fraud

Ruiz was a Mediocre champ but he is miles ahaed of 95% of today's HWs and he has wins over Rahman and Holyfield, the fact that you would dismiss a win over Ruiz for the HW title by a fighter who started off at 154 lbs, says that you are nothing more than a Hater.

lol at Hopkins continually calling Roy a hypocrite

he said Roy didn't want him to beat Trinidad because Roy wanted an easy fight (with Tito). ****, Trinidad was Hopkins biggest win at the time, the fight which made him a star (atleast the star he thought he was to demand 50-50 vs Roy). How's that for ****ing hypocrisy

You're absolutely right. But Hopkins had already agreed to fight Jones the only reason the fight was off was because he lost to Green. So the premise that Hopkins only took the fight because of Jones being KO'ed in 1 is false. Fact is this has been an easy fight for Hopkins for a number of years now.

The only reason I even think these 2 were able to agree terms now is because they don't have many other options that would bring a good payday.

I listened to the Hopkins-Jones debate on youtube yesterday and it was entertaining. Now I'm looking forward to the fight. Hopking can't mess with Roy when it comes to talking. I wanna see Roy whoop his ass in the ring again, that be something.

To be fair to Hopkins, he said before the Tito fight that he would suprise many people by how easy he would make it look. Even to this day he says it's one of his easiest fights. The fact that almost everyone underated him for so long isn't his fault. Simple truth is everyone thought Tito was better than he was based on the manner he beat Vargas, Reid and Joppy.

Also had Tito won the tournament that would have been a huge fight. Tito/Jones would have done massive numbers on PPV and nobody would have really given Tito much of a chance. So yes I think Jones would have preferred if Tito won because it would have been the biggest payday of his career.

:goodHonestly he hasn't really been the same after the fight with Oscar. The Vargas win was still good and the reason the Joppy win is rated high is because Trinidad toke quicker time to beat Joppy than Hops also Joppy went the distance with Hops while Tito toke em out in 5 rounds.

    !!!!!!!!War Hopkins!!!!!!!!
