trust me i was a big part of the whole roycott.i remember it well. roy went waaay out of his way to avoid a fight with tarver. he grew some big balls after his fight with ruiz.believing his own hype and going against his insticts. the rest is history

Nah I don't trust you. I followed the sport during the Roycott as well. Just a deluded way to look at his actions.

He did it to get under Tarver's skin.

Harding was a tough southpaw who beat Tarver in the eliminator.

    What happened after?

    Roy fought Harding.

If Tarver had've beaten Harding, Roy would have fought Tarver..

Also, Roy simply didn't do things that he didn't want to do.

If he'd have been that set against not fighting Tarver, he wouldn't HAVE! :good

the reality is roys walking around weight was 190. he never had to drain himself for tarver.

    thats the point

He was 193 at the weigh in and up to 200 during the fight.

Anyway that's stupid. He was cutting muscle not fat so talking about his walk-around weight like it's the same thing is kinda dumb.

he wasnt no 200 pounds fight night.that was hbo weighing him when he was fully clothed.you really think he put on 7 pounds when he was struggling to put on weight.

    now thats kinda dumb thinking

roy himself said he walks around 190 but then again he told lampley on air not to long before that he couldn't put on enough weight to fight at heavyweight. roy says alot of things so who knows

His 190 walking around weight, is not the same as his Ruiz weight.

Yes, in actual weight, it's similar. In actual pounds.

But his 190 walking around weight body, would be worlds apart from his Ruiz body.

How else can I explain it?

For his Tarver camp, he was a solid 190 + with no fat.

So to get to the weigh in limit, instead of losing body fat, he had to lose muscle.

He burnt muscle fibres away to hit the weight.

All he did was run, and nothing much else to get it off.

Do some research. Losing muscle at 35 was extremely dangerous.

He did it without expert help too.

Mackie Shilstone put the weight on, but he couldn't take it off.

It was left to Coach Merk, and he just had Roy running.

Lol @ walk around weight. Roy had gained rock solid muscle to move up. Not like his "walk around weight." Use the little brain you have.

According to Thomas Hauser he was 196 in the dressing room on fight night.

Like Kmac said, he was 199, but Hauser didn't include the weight of his clothes etc.

    Look it up online.

Close fight, finally after an absence of quality fighters Rj came face to face with Tarver, a man possessed. Rj did win the first one, Antonio's aggression, fearlessness, and determination tho won him the crowd. Rj indeed should have hung them up, but his pride and confidence were too much for him to just walk away. Tarver must be given credit tho. One of the most memorable quotes and ko's in boxing history are attributed to him. Little to unknown fighters as well as underdogs hellbent to destroy the champ that to me is what boxing's all about. It doesn't matter how skillful you are if you can't follow a gameplan. Tarver followed his.

I think you need to do a bit of research.

Walking around weight and fighting weight, are as different as black and white.
