Power puncher against nonstop puncher. Does Lopez have enough firepower in his offense to keep off the swarming attack of Williams or does he get bamboozled by the constant punches in bunches that Williams dishes out? Lopez is a fighter who was notorious for not letting his punches go enough but when he did go all out he was dangerous but does he have the power to stop a guy like Williams who was usually open for counters?
It would probably resemble the Magarito fight. Lopez gets outworked in the 1st half of the fight and then Lopez makes life uncofmortable for Williams down the stretch. But Williams survives a late rally and has built up too much of a lead overall and wins a competitive UD. Lopez is just too lazy IMO he's not active enough to beat a whirling dervish like Williams.
That would have been a great matchup. Based on consistency, I would probably lean slightly towards Williams to outpoint Lopez. But, he did lose that first fight to the much inferior Quintana. And, There is also the second Martinez fight. I think that was a bit of a fluke, but, Lopez probably hit as hard as Sergio. Lopez had legit power.
Lopez wasn't always lazy. Yori Boy Campos, Aaron Davis and the Irishman he stopped in one can attest to that. And Williams didn't fight in a way that would allow Lopez to be lazy- he wouldn't be trying to stay away from him, to maintain distance. he would come to him throwing a lot of punches which would very likely encourage Lopez to punch with him.
